Secretary of Treasure to announce Andrew Jackson to be replaced by a woman on $20 bill (in a decade)

I couldn't believe this was real but apparently it is:

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is expected to announce this week that Alexander Hamilton's face will remain on the front of the $10 bill and a woman will replace Andrew Jackson on the face of the $20 bill, a senior government source told CNN on Saturday.

According to the source, Jackson "will be removed in favor of a female representing the struggle for racial equality." The decision, however, will take at least a decade to go into effect, due to concerns over counterfeiting.

Furthermore, the decision can be reversed, because "future Treasury Secretaries -- of which there will be several -- could reverse or alter the decision regarding the $20, making Lew's announcement far less of a clear-cut victory for the movement pushing to place a woman on American currency."

Apparently Hamilton is getting a reprieve, but the back of his bill is also being targeted:

Lew announced last summer that he was considering redesigning the $10 bill to include the portrait of a woman. The decision to make the historic change at the expense of Hamilton drew angry rebukes from fans of the former Treasury Secretary. The pro-Hamilton movement gained steam after the smash success of the hip-hop Broadway musical about his life this year.

Those pressures led Lew to determine that Hamilton should remain on the front of the bill. Instead, a mural-style depiction of the women's suffrage movement -- including images of leaders such as Susan B. Anthony -- will be featured on the back of the bill.

Doesn't bother me.

I don't care if they put a picture of Zelda from Pet Cemetary on there. I don't look at the fucking thing, I just collect and spend it.

Well I think the issue at hand is whether or not we need to push our founders out of the way for the modern progressive agenda.

I mean, women got the right to vote, they're found in every industry, and there was even an announcement the other day that they're going to be going into combat. But they also gotta kick Andrew fucking Jackson off our money?

It's fucking currency , I care more about its strength and exchange rates over the face on it

Paper money wont be around much longer anyways

I only use it to buy drugs

Reply to my post on the movie rating thread.

But just to stay on topic: Don't they have better shit to worry about?

I can see where there would be an issue.

It's just not one to me, doesn't affect me.

I don't mind changing the person on currency but to do it because so and so has to be represented is the worst of reasons. I know the $1 coin failed 10-15 years ago, why not try it again now that the dollar is even weaker with a new face on it?

Melissa McCarthy would be very empowering on the $20 bill.

They should just create a new bill rather than messing with one that already exists. $250 bills would be cool. They should also create a $3 bill with someone like Andy Dick or Caitlyn Jenner on it to give enhanced meaning to the phrase "queerer than a $3 bill"

Isn't Andrew Jackson widely regarded as one of the worst presidents ever?

Oh boo hoo cry me a trail of tears motherfucker
