I'm just waiting for someone to snap McGregor's standing leg, when he does one of his poorly executed 'Hollywood kicks'.

conors striking is excelent.

In all seriousness tho

> Having a decent reach (73' to start with), He abuses his, so the fighter has to be big a enought to offset that and not allow him to just keep himself static in the middle after striking. He gets away with that against smaller guys, against Nate he had to "reset" (cough RUN cough). He miscalculates space a lot if his opponent doesn't have T-Rex arms.

> Good reflexes, timing and good head movent, he attacks the centerline too often, slip and counter and you can find his chin hanging IF you have size (and power to help). He'll start spinning shit and head kicks once you start to slip so you gotta be expecting that too.

> Mix up Takedowns and striking, using the threat of the takedown to close distance, have good clinch game and keep him guessing between defend a TD from clinch or worry about dirty boxing

> Leg kicks. Barboza Style. Take away his ability to use his legs properly and you'll get lead foot dominance more often, Conor doesn't fight well in close distance and without lead foot dominance.

> Feint and bait him HARD. draw the left hand and counter. or draw the left straight and shoot a single in his lead leg that is always in advanced position. Something, Just make him thrown the left hand when you have something planned to counter it.

> Get control of the Centerline BEFORE he does, Look at Buakaw vs Holzken. Controling his main path of attacks will offset a lot in his game.

> Teh Wrestling. Teh BJJ. Teh Grappling.

> Don't rush, time your punches correctly and don't fkn try to eat through punches to counter.

> Gas Tank

That's what Eddie Alvarez does.

TS is right about Muay Thai. Someone with a high guard who will walk Conor down and chop his legs down will beat him.

Not any of those at LW though. Barboza and RDA are the closest thing.
Not a Conor but hugger by any means but what if that left hand comes out of nowhere while the thai style tried to walk him down most Thai fighters have bad hands or average boxing

the thing is that no one in ufc have a good muay thai technique, with a a guy from lumpini circuit conor would have 0 space to throw counters cause they bring the game up close, to the clinch disntance, conor would eat elbows, throws to the ground, kicks to the shin would be a nightmare to conor

When Conor says "I see stiffness" or "Stuck in the mud" He's referring to MT style traditional fighters who offer nothing new to see or challenge him at all on the feet. Very basic style and easy for him to read. Nothing flowy.

Keeping it on the feet at all is a mistake. No clinching either. He still has a chance at breaking free and tagging you.

Putting him on his back and keep him there is the game plan.
Kaboob has a shot if he can avoid getting clipped coming in then finish him on the ground. If he can't finish and Conor gets to start on the feet every round it's good night kaboob.

The secret to beating Conor:
Winning

Conor makes Muay Thai fighters look awful because of they often lack good boxing ability.

Which Muay Thai fighters do you think would beat Conor anyway?

It's very difficult to get off good kicks or any kicks at all when you're being pushed back to the fence and forced into a defensive shell. Being pushed back constantly, forced to keep moving and to defend makes it very hard to get off kicks.

Conor's pressure is one of the biggest reasons he's so successful. He pushes you into a corner when leading and baits you into his left. His counters don't just come out of nowhere, he's setting it up long before he actually does it.

He cuts you off at the fence and gives his opponent little space to move. If you don't get off the fence, it's just a matter of time until you're knocked out. The only thing they can really do is try to move foward with strikes so they can get away from the fence because it's damn near impossible to circle away from it when he has you cut off there.

When his opponent tries this (move forward with strikes), he counters them because he was expecting them to do it. He makes his opponent desperate to escape the fence and when they try, they eat counters or just get pushed back again immediately.

Conor has talked about how Muay Thai fighters are easy for him because they're all stuck in the same routine. They're all so similar with their movement and Conor knows how to read it perfectly.

If anything, Conor is the one who's bad for the Muay Thai fighters, not the other way around.

You need more than just basic Muay Thai skills to beat Conor. There's a couple specific things Conor does that makes him a very bad fight for Muay Thai fighters.

Exactly this.
I'm surprised there is anyone who thinks MT is the answer.
You need a 155 version of Maia to beat Conor right now.

That's why I said a high guard.

There's no secret as to how to beat Conor. He is very beatable. I'd say outside of Bisping, he's probably the most beatable champion on the UFC roster. All the other champs have a mix of striking, grappling, and decent ground game to say the least. Conor is a pheomonal striker who mixes up precision, accuracy, power, and good footwork to be dominant on the feet. His ground game, or lack thereof, leaves much to be desired though.
