Everyone was all up on Aldo's MT until Conor KOd him in the opening exchange

Thank you sen·sei seagold for that most unenlightened though

Conor won't lose for a long time, Silva style imo, that's not nuthugging he's just a very intelligent fighter since defeat.

That's what Eddie Alvarez does.

TS is right about Muay Thai. Someone with a high guard who will walk Conor down and chop his legs down will beat him.

Not any of those at LW though. Barboza and RDA are the closest thing.

If Jose and McGregor ever fight again that's exactly what he should be doing. muay thai clinch, soften the mid section with knees. take the lead leg out.

Unorthodox striking style and a high level submission game. Ironically, if you were designing a perfect fighter to beat McGregor, you'd probably end up with Gunnar Nelson.

The secret is that the punches that land are the most dangerous ones.

Must have missed that part, didn't see any wrestling what so ever.

wrestler/sambo with good chin who doesn't give up a lot of size. Conor doesn't have particularly good take down defense, Nate's offensive wrestling is garbage and Mendes is small.

Conor makes Muay Thai fighters look awful because of they often lack good boxing ability.

Which Muay Thai fighters do you think would beat Conor anyway?

It's very difficult to get off good kicks or any kicks at all when you're being pushed back to the fence and forced into a defensive shell. Being pushed back constantly, forced to keep moving and to defend makes it very hard to get off kicks.

Conor's pressure is one of the biggest reasons he's so successful. He pushes you into a corner when leading and baits you into his left. His counters don't just come out of nowhere, he's setting it up long before he actually does it.

He cuts you off at the fence and gives his opponent little space to move. If you don't get off the fence, it's just a matter of time until you're knocked out. The only thing they can really do is try to move foward with strikes so they can get away from the fence because it's damn near impossible to circle away from it when he has you cut off there.

When his opponent tries this (move forward with strikes), he counters them because he was expecting them to do it. He makes his opponent desperate to escape the fence and when they try, they eat counters or just get pushed back again immediately.

Conor has talked about how Muay Thai fighters are easy for him because they're all stuck in the same routine. They're all so similar with their movement and Conor knows how to read it perfectly.

If anything, Conor is the one who's bad for the Muay Thai fighters, not the other way around.

You need more than just basic Muay Thai skills to beat Conor. There's a couple specific things Conor does that makes him a very bad fight for Muay Thai fighters.

hmmm derp his ground game is so bad... DEERRRRRPPPP... alvarez going to wrestle fuck him....derrrrrrrp.... Aldo going to take him down and submit him DERRRP.....Diaz better at everything DERPPPP.... Ducking my mom.... derpppp

The problem with Muay Thai is that the practitioners can't box for shit and don't have the footwork to create angles against a fighter that can box. You might be able to chop his legs down, but you're gonna eat a lot of left hands in the process. What lasts longer, his leg or your chin?
