Schnell plan: carefully pressure Nicolau.
Got dropped.
Got up, rinse & repeat.

I wonder what Nicolau would have done if Schnell walked to center and just stood there in fighting stance?

Would have been funny to see.

Schnell controlled octagon and dictated pace and lost. Hope he can learn some new ideas, or at least some new slips.

I'd have to rewatch but it felt like he just wasn't making reads or adjustments.

Using the same angles to enter and leaving the same openings until the invitation was accepted and his ticket got punched.

Edit: I could only find a crowd video of the last minute or so, but I'm not sure I would give much credit for "controlling the octagon"

Nicolau had center position, but Schnell was the one dictating the angles of engagement. He walked Nicolau into the same shifting/squared left hand (cross/overhand) and hurt him twice.

Nicolau was sludging along in straight lines, not cutting off the cage and not controlling angles. Nicolau should have used more faints to get Schnell to expend energy and tried to use Schnells lateral motion to tire him out.
