So I'm watching UFC on tv right now and they're showing Shaub against Rothwell. He was looking fantastic. Hit rothwell some bombs and spinning shit even stumbled the big man but ultimately bens got that God chin and laid a counter into reckless Schaub.

Schaub doesn't seem like a bad HW he just didn't have the chin for the weight class. I kind of miss seeing the guy around and he's a decent personality. He did get screwed over withh the Ronda/Browne thing as well.

He held his own for a bit but man...that chin. Just not built for the big guys. His grappling with the invisible man was great though at the end.

Heavyweight has a decent line of guys to contend with Stipe, Rothwell, Overeem, AA....take your sweet time Cain so we can see SOMEONE....ANYONE ELSE fight for the belt once or twice.

Schaub was actually skilled, he just didn't have the chin for a HW.

Someone post that picture of blonde haired Schaub and McGregor, where McGregor's head is clearly bigger than Schaub's.

Schaub just should've been smarter when training. Apparently just before that fight he had Carwin knock him flat out in the gym. Thats why Ben was able to clock him with, maybe, a three inch hook.

I agree. His standup was very underrated. But his chin and defense just did not work in the HW division.

I think more than Schlub's chin, it was his fight IQ. Whenever he got finished, it was usually because of poor defense/being overly aggressive. Most of the shots that put him away in his UFC career, would at least badly hurt anyone at HW.

Schaub had the most potential out of any HW I've seen, just needed to open his mind more to what he's capable of. Anybody could get shut off like Schaub did at HW and almost everyone has, doesn't mean he has a bad chin, more like poor defense.

He has said questionable things in interviews and his podcast for sure, but overall I'm a fan of Schaub and am happy he quit while he was ahead and found income outside of competing in the cage.

I think he had a lot of skill he just wasn't able to put it together against top guys when it really mattered and suffered some brutal defeats.

Agree...wish he was still fighting. I feel like he could have gotten much better, as we've seen MULTIPLE HWs do recently, who are 8-10 years older than Schaub. But, aye, he's killing it in the entertainment business and doesn't have to suffer through a training camp or incur any more brain trauma. Do what you do Big Brown.

Rothwell is just a nasty beast and career-reducer for anyone he fights though he will probably lose.

I honestly think his fight vs Cain caused a lot of health problems for Cain down the line, he took a lot of damage in that fight.

That's why I really did not want to see Stipe vs Rothwell. Miocic would have won
probably by decision but Rothwell is just one of those guys with such a chin and nasty, sloppy, beast power he takes and gives a lot of damage from anyone he fights and should either be given a title shot or kept away from potential stars entirely.

I don't think he's technical enough to be champion but will destory a lot of potential champs careers.

Schaub was an athletic heavyweight with some real skill, but his chin let him down on the slightest shot.

Got screwed over with the Browne/Ronda thing?

I personally don't care for him but his weakness at any division would be his chin.

If he had a chin he'd be top 5 at some point in his career. Might sound silly to some of you but he truly would. Also FWIW he said on his show Shane Carwin KO'd him in camp training for Rothwell so I'm sure that couldn't have helped.

I liked him better as a fighter than a podcast host. Only so many times i can hear him say the following:
Son
DAMN son !
Gorilla
BEAST
Motherfucker.!
Starched
Mirked

He just had to learn defense. He wasn't that experienced afterall.

And i fucking hated that he sat there and listened to Joe for 40 min talk about his fights and future. He should've cut him off and said, buddy, i hear ya, but it's been 10 min of this shit. But he didnt. He bitched out.

To be honest, that podcast got me into listening to rogan all the time. I tried to listen to Brendan and Brian but i thought they sucked. Joe is where it's at but God damn, right place or not, He should've said shut the fuck up. Friend or not he should've expressed some resentment for laying it on so thick, But he didnt. So. ..

Fuck him.

What Shaub said in this podcast makes me really doubt his knowledge as a martial artists, this is basic, basic shit. Listen to his critique of Jon Jones spinning back kick.
