If Kimbo is not on your Mt. Rushmore of mma, you dont know shit about the sport.

WTF. thoughts.

He's paying his respect to his fallen friend. I don't wanna bash Kimbo.

kimbo was bad ass...but not the face of mma!

no bashing here. i kind of get what he might be saying if it deals with mma notoriety.

Yeah I think that's what he was leaning towards with his statement. Kimbo Slice wasn't the most skilled MMA fighter by any means but the dude was a legit star.

That is some seriously dumb shit. You can say some nice shit about your deceased buddy without going full retard.

I respect Kimbo for going legit with his fighting career, but truth be told, he was never anything other than a ratings grabbing sideshow in the sport.

i agree with schaub war kimbo

This documentary went straight for the heart, right at the beginning. Good stuff. Also surprised to see Dana paying his respects here, considering this is a Bellator MMA production.

DVR this, it's good so far. Deeper than the one they did in February for the Shamrock fight.

EDIT: I mean't the documentary Bellator did for Kimbo's fight against DADA 5000, not Shamrock.

I got that west coast delay, glad to hear it's well put together. I'll def tune in later.

Its been good so far. Glad to see Dana putting his bull shit aside to pay his respects.

With all due respect to kimbo.

I just never agreed he should have been in the ufc to begin with. Glorifying back yard brawls is not what the sport needed to grow.

Notoriety?

Lesnar, St. Pierre, Rousey, McGreogor, Liddell, Sonnen, etc.

Schaub is still a space cadet.

By all accounts, Kimbo was a good dude. He got into MMA late and with bum knees, yet still had some respectable showings. He did better than I thought.

I also never realized that he looked like Dr. Phil until recently.

All that being said, he's neither a pioneer of the sport nor anywhere near one of its best practitioners. He's a footnote in MMA history. A 30-for-30 subject in 20 years when he's all but forgotten. He rates a small display or piece of memorabilia in a future MMA museum or hall of fame, but he doesn't rate induction. Schaub needs to lay off whatever he's smoking with Rogan.

drop chuck, sonnen and gsp from that list. as big as they were for the sport the were not mainstream.

he may not have been the best but he didnt tap to a rnc like a goat in here.

Agreed. I think he just chose a poor analogy.

Mt. Rushmore has only four faces, so it could only be an analogy for a G.O.A.T list, and Kimbo obviously does not make that cut, no offense to him intended.

If we're making an analogy for the National monuments/landmarks list, then Kimbo absolutely has his place, and Schaub would be 100% correct. You can't deny that taking your friends on a picnic to kimbo state park for the weekend is the shit. Almost always entertaining, and a one of a kind place to visit.
