Save your child or spouse and why?

I'm going off that other thread and I'm asking you my fellow sherdoggers.

What would you do? Who would you save

Your in a house fire and you can save:

A) your spouse

B) your child

I would pick my child but Itd haunt me forever. I'd be scarred but the child should never be buried before their parents.

ridiculous. if you have an absolute choice and it can only be one, it has to be the kid. if my wife saved me and let the kid die, i would never forgive her. parents are supposed to die first. this is even easier than the other stupid thread

Well, that is the important question. Maybe it won't matter to some, but I'm betting there are people who may act differently if their child is a grown adult rather than a toddler.

well if your kid is 30 he likely has his own family. so then you are letting your grand kids and daughter in law be without a husband/father and your own spouse is elderly and only going to live a few more years anyway.

Depends on the sex of the parent.

A mother should always save her child before her mate. There is a hard limit on how much offspring she can produce so each one represents a product of finite resource - her time.

The male mammal, OTOH just doesn't have as much invested into each of his offspring. He can go off and produce more offspring while the female is committed to gestating.

This aspect of our evolutionary biology is a part of the human drama. A part of our nature is that there is a conflict between fathers and sons as they compete for the affection of the mate/mother, a conflict that the father is destined to lose.

Mothers are supposed to love their children more than the father. People will love their children more than their parents. Is normal.
