Just saw an ad for a fight he has been booked into, against Andre Winner, under the banner of Tanko Fighting Championships.

This seems odd, to me, considering he was the winner of TUF, or would have been, were it not for his erroneous VISA application.

Does this mean he cannot fight in the states, or have the UFC cut him for the initial mistake?

Edit: I see now, that he got cut after failing to appear in the Finale. Hope he gets another opportunity, he is one of the better TUF prospects in a while.

Forgot about that guy. Never heard what the Visa 'issues' were.

Smells like he didn't disclose his criminal record or something like that that would have messed-up the whole visa process, then the UFC just told him to fuck-off. And by the way, he didn't win TUF since he couldn't compete at the finale.

I think it was more than "visa issues", although I'm not sure how he could get to Las Vegas to film TUF in the first place.

They announced he was cut immediately after the TUF visa issues.

He beat Ryan Hall on the show, who went on to win it. He is the rightful winner, in my opinion. I didn't see him having trouble with anyone on the show.

sucks he was booted from TUF. he was clearly the best in the house and was exciting. but at least we have ryan hall.

"people dont think jujitsu be what it be......but it do"

Purpose of TUF is to give airtime and exposure to fighters who will then be contracted to the UFC. They don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts, they expect to get a return.

Saul got the exposure but due to his visa problems or previous convictions, it meant he couldn't fight for the UFC.

They were rightly pissed. They spent money putting him out there and increasing his profile, to find out they can't even use him. Dude played them.

Does this mean he may never compete in the UFC? That's a shame, because, were they able to use him, he would be a fighter, worth putting money into.

We never found the exact details but he lied on his visa application which means he will have trouble getting into the states.

And he pissed them off so they have no interest in booking him for UK shows. Which are pretty rare anyway.

We also don't know what the lie was. It's assumed that it relates to a conviction, maybe the type of conviction the UFC want to stay the hell away from (rape or something). I don't like speculating but Saul had ample opportunity to explain the situation and didn't.

I think he lied to get the TUF visa, which then caused problems getting back into the US for the finale.

Good point. At least, if he had have come clean, it would have opened the door a little wider for redemption.

I think that is an awful lot of speculating, I mean Dana was completely pissed he ruined the show and the final, we were all hyped to watch him fight and we know Dana holds a grudge, I don't see why the most likely conviction was nasty. Personally i wouldn't even have went to rape in my head, would have guessed drugs, GBH, maybe even robbery. He did mention on TUF he turned his life around, was in with wrong crowd, mates were in and out of jail and one had just died.

In the UK a lot of kids get caught by Police and basically get told if you admit you did it and apologise and say you will never do it again we will let you go, sometimes don't even go to court, what they are not told is this stays on your record despite you not being in court or sentenced. It could have been as innocent as criminal damage (Vandalism).
