Saudi woman burns Filipino maid with boiling water.

Saudi Arabia is excellent proof of this adage: Money can buy everything except civilization.

Every time i hear about something like this happening i am reminded of this line from the movie Syriana.

You know what the business community thinks of you? They think that a hundred years ago you were living in tents out here in the desert chopping each other's heads off and that's where you'll be in another hundred years

I used to work for a healthcare staffing agency and we had a bunch of filipinos working for us. They were by far our most empathetic and easygoing employees.

As for Saudis, I've heard things from others that are consistent with what was said in here. One thing I will add is something that was told me by a cute Bahrainian girl I was seeing. She was being overly cautious about my reaction so I felt she downplayed it quite a bit. But she told me, essentially, that since Saudis can't drink alcohol in their countries, they go to neighboring places like Bahrain or Kuwait and just tear these places up. They insult those who serve them, drink like fish, and then try to screw as many women as they can and don't use protection. I can tell she was holding back of saying more and it didn't sit well with me at the time. I try to be open minded about other cultures but it's hard when it comes to Saudis because I have literally not heard one good thing about their society.

Working in real estate, I come into some contacts with wealthy kids from Saudi Arabia. Generally they're a bowl of shit sauce. The arrogance in their attitude are very apparent. They love hiring escorts and drink till they puke, despite appearing to be devout Muslims when they go back home. I find them a shitty people overall.

This is a racist attack. A sizeable number of Arabs treat South East Asians like animals all across the Arabian gulf. They hold them as slaves by confiscating their passports.

Funnily enough, it is only the wealthy oil rich arab states that you see this barbarism. If it doesn't make the media, nothing would even come of it even if it were a muslim as the victim is in this case.

While the oil rich Gulfies are known for their racist nature , it isn't just them, as Lebanon also has a reputation for treating expat domestic workers like crap.

At least one immigrant domestic worker dies each week in Lebanon, by suicide or by accident during a bid to escape, a human rights group reports.

Human Rights Watch is calling for an investigation into the reasons behind the deaths of at least 95 migrant maids since January 2007.

Forty were classed as suicide while 24 died in falls from high buildings.

Many of the women face abuse and low wages or die trying to escape from employers who lock them up, HRW said.

"All those involved... need to ask themselves what is driving these women to kill themselves or risk their lives trying to escape from high buildings," said HRW Senior Researcher Nadim Houry

A 2006 survey quoted by HRW showed 31% of 600 domestic workers interviewed were not allowed to leave the home they worked in.

There are around 200,000 foreign domestic workers in Lebanon, and reports of physical, sexual and mental abuse are widespread. Ali Fakhry, of Lebanon's Anti-Racist Movement, which campaigns for better rights for migrant workers, says many pay as much as $3,000 (

Given the context of this thread, what you posted is extremely vile, even by your posting standards.

The woman is alive and in the Filipino embassy. The thread subject is sad and there is definitely a problem with functional slavery in Saudi Arabia, but c'mon now with the touchiness.

I haven't seen that movie in years and I still remember that line.

Zhit like this makes me want to go full on jihad against the Saudis.

I am going out on a limb here, well not really:D , but I think it's safe to say there are a lot of different cultures who can't wait for oil to run out in the Gulf and for the Arabs to get their just desserts.

Less than a year ago (Sep 2013) a Filipino maid in Saudi suffered burns on 95% of her body.

She died in intensive care. She left behind 2 children.

A badly burned Filipina maid died Monday after falling into a coma at the intensive care unit at King Saud Medical City Hospital (formerly Shemesi Hospital) in the Saudi capital.

“When she was brought to the hospital by her male sponsor on Aug. 19, she had burns covering 95 percent of her body, making her barely recognizable,” hospital sources, who requested anonymity, told Arab News.

The sources said the sponsor claimed the victim, 34, allegedly tried to commit suicide for reasons he did not mention. Arab News called the sponsor but he could not be contacted

Like I said earlier shit like this has been going on forever in Saudi and their society and gov. does nothing. When shit becomes public they condemn it for PR reasons but nothing meaningfull takes place in regards to protecting poor expats.

Well it was the Christian Euros and their Murican cousins who gave them the forbidden fruit called fossil fuel extraction/processing. Maybe if they decided to not be greedy, and go with the other forms of energy they already knew about, this may not be happening.

Lol is that supposed to be some type of excuse?....

From what I have learned on the few cruises I have been on, Filipinos are pretty numerous in that business. I talked to a few, and they say many work on the ships, and it is pretty easy to get work on them. I would certainly skip the ME destinations, but it seems a much better option than working in SA, and I imagine much better for their health.

People just ain't no good
I think that's well understood
You can see it everywhere you look
People just ain't no good

It ain't that in their hearts they're bad
They can comfort you, some even try
They nurse you when you're ill of health
They bury you when you go and die
It ain't that in their hearts they're bad
They'd stick by you if they could
But that's just bullshit
People just ain't no good

People they ain't no good
People they ain't no good
People they ain't no good
People they ain't no good at all

They care about their family's well-being though.

Are they willing to die for it though? I'm sure that there are other place they can go work overseas, maybe not as well paying but definitely more safer.

Going to safer places may not be an option.

A lot of these poor people do not know the reality of life in the Gulf and the odds of being brutalized.

Some of them will have heard stories but out of desperation they may convinve themselves that they may be one of the lucky ones whos Arab employer won't mistreat.

It's a gamble. They are not ignorant of what is happening. They're taking risks just so they could provide for their family.

I have read many articles on human trafficking in the Gulf, and in an awfull lot of cases the poor expat workers are tricked and lied to by the middlemen and sponsors who facilitate their employment.

Some are ignorant of the level of risk.

Some know there is a high chance of them being treated like shit but they are soo desperate to feed their family that they have no choice. It's like poor Mexicans who die trying to cross the border; some may not know the level of risk but even the ones who know how riskig it is are soo desperate they will take the risk.
