Meh social change happens naturally and parallel to democracies. Its mostly a facade, yet very difficult to say if different parties in power would lead to different outcomes. It wouldnt imo.

True democracy would be a constant stream of individual issues, from local to national, being voted on by the people, with repeat voting on issues every 5-10 years, and established laws needing 75% nays to be changed or abolished. It would be bloody chaos and a bureaucratic nightmare but what we have now is not democracy, people have a vote but no real say or influence.

Not sure how leadership would be established, Id have to think about it. They would automatically have far less power at least, serving mostly organizational and implementation roles.

The stupidity of the populace, myself no exception, would have to be a consideration as well. It is probably the reason we have the pseudo system as is.
