Looks fun man.

It is! :D

You MMA guys should do it if you neglected it because:

a) You will totally enjoy it.

b) The sandbag can simulate an opponent.

Yeh i started doing these after reading about them in "Ultimate training for the ultimate warrior" there a good exercise especially if you dont have bumper plates.

edit: oh and i cant get the video to work

I give you an e for effort but is that a clean? It looks too dirty to be a clean...shouldn't a clean be like one explosive movement up to the chest area there...you kind of crawl it up...maybe you should drop the weight...

Look at the second part of the video. The clean is "cleaner" in that part.

Drop the weight? I plan to increase the weight to 150lbs soon.

you should really be trying to go from floor to catch faster but it looked good other than that.

The 2nd part still looks dirty to me.That whole catching it with your thighs and rolling it up kind of...i don't consider myself a powerlifter or strongman in the sport definition of the term but power cleans are one of my favorite exercises and if you haven't done them before using light weight can make you strong and big(blasphemy here perhaps) very fast and the weights go up fast...you seem to be adopting that whole strong man philosophy of " if you want to bench 300lbs then you have to bench 300lbs" which i can see the value in of having that attitude but at some point i think it becomes counterproductive/dangerous. In my opinion you still haven't cleaned 100lbs clean.

I just saw the video, hes right thats not a clean or a clean and throw, its supposed to be explosive. 2 parts: 1. Clean the bag in under a second to your chest then 2. Dip down and throw the bag up. pick up and repeat.

Of course the form is not going to look perfect, hes using a friggen sand bag. Get real man. And the throwing does more than let you have a good time, It is great for explosive strength and just using the Sandbag in general lets you use muscles that are not normally used in "barbell lifts".

Diesel, congrats for having the nuts to post all these vids.

Ahhhh, I see why people are complaining, because of the title "Clean Press and Throw". Yes I agree if you are try8ing to clean it then you will want to bring it up a bit higher and dip faster to catch it. However, what you did with the sandbag was a good workout in and of itself.

There are actually three parts, not two: clean, press and throw.

I have never seen the sandbag clean performed differently. Here is Jedd from the Diesel Crew, doing a 200lb sandbag clean and press. Notice how he puts the bag on his knees first, like me:

rickdog: Thanks, man. Yeah, there are way too many form nazis on the internet.

Try a shoulder press and clean. shouldering should be one solid movement, no pause. It's alright vid for what it is, but it's not a clean.

That first clean wasn't shouldered. I brought it up more on my left side, not onto my shoulder.

Look at the second part of the video. I brought up the bag more centered.

so a friend of yours does it the same way and that is what you base your being right on? you have some very circular logic going there. as far as form nazis go, well i don't know if any of us are national socialists but i do think we have cause to critique your form. you post these videos, which i think is brave, but then you expect no one to explain why you are doing certain things poorly and in some cases just plain wrong. to clean a sandbag from floor to catch is harder than a barbell but that doesn't mean you get to get it up to your shoulders anyway you want and call it a clean. as i keep saying, stop trying to lift above your abilities, focus on form, and the weight your after will be there very soon i bet.
