Samsung phones are pre-installed with Chinese spyware that sends all kinds of info back to China. Samsung is trying to downplay it but it's BS. I own a Samsung Galaxy 10 and has been using Samsung since galaxy 3. I'm never going to use another Samsung again. My next upgrade will be a Pixel.

This has been your PSA of the day, get rid of your spyware!!

I just bought a Samsung Active 2 smartwatch. Apparently my secret reminder to buy more Tucks wipes is now in the hands of the Chinese:(

I switched my iPhone from ATT to T Mobile today and the guy said sometimes there is a lag between switching the number over so they assign a temp one. Well I guess I had my temp for a minute or 2 because some kid tried to buy drugs from me. I got a text "You open for business? It's Ryan at (his address) hahaha

Oh I saved 100 bucks a month too!

that was me.

White hat hacker: oh no it's sending something to China and we don't know what it is!!!

Samsung: the only data sent back to Qihoo is generic information needed to optimize storage — specifically naming OS version, phone model, and storage capacity, among other data.

Given that the program defrags phone hds it's understandable that they would need use and implementation data for quality control.

It does not say this.

did you even read the story you linked???

"According to Samsung, the truth is less alarming than it appears. The company says the only data sent back to Qihoo is generic information needed to optimize storage — specifically naming OS version, phone model, and storage capacity, among other data. Qihoo’s main contribution is a reference library for identifying junk files, but that library is stored locally in the utility, and Qihoo never receives data that would allow it to identify a particular file on a user’s device."
