I know there is a thread every few days about this, but, holy shit(!) I am getting popups every 30 seconds or so here. I'm using Firefox and never had this happen before. I got 2 while making this thread. Whats happening?

served by precision click.com

over and over

Yep I just had some bad stuff installed from this site. Zonealarm let me know fortunatly. COME ON SHERDOG.

is your firefox configured properly? :S popups are adds, adds = money, money pays for the servers that run this massive forum.

http://www.sherdog.net/forums/payments.php is a solution, if you wish to contribute.

We're working to fix it, especially the ones that you guys claim installs spyware... yet nobody has bothered to list what the spyware is called. -.-;

I don't mind the adds so much, other than popups that cause my computer to freeze up. Keeps me from being able to post a 20 word post because 5 popups come up.

One came up while posting this. Thats too much.

Windows installer this time. What is that?

Ridiculous. Since my last post 20 minutes ago, I have got like 30 popups.

I'm getting a shady image pop-up. It then puts files on my computer, including a pair that try to call home.

a.exe
pre.exe

Active X is involved in some way as well.

People understand that ads are a part of using the internet & that ads help sites like sherdog stay afloat. People WILL NOT tolerate software (be it spyware/adware/malware) installing on their computer. It is very bad for the rep of Sherdog.

I can't believe Sherdog is letting online advertisers take advantage of the website and its members. Yes, that's exactly what it is; these companies buying up adspace are blatantly taking advantage of your naivete.

That was pretty quick upgrade in banners/pop-ups, which leads me to believe the administration here accepted all comers without setting regulations on the ads themselves. And that's a big mistake. I can't recall ever browsing an internet forum and being bombarded by alerts from my Antivirus program every time I login. Please remove all of these noisy, malicious advertisements...for the sake of humanity.
