Hey, so I just started a new job last week. Im used to working 9-4 everyday, now I work 4-10 all through the week with weekend off, so its gonna be alot easier (in my mind) for me to plan out my meals and keep my nutrition on track, and thats good, because Im super lazy!

Anyways, I wanna start making a salad I can put in a few tupperware dishes for lunch every week. I know Im supposed to use dark leafy green lettuce, but other than that, what would you guys reccomend I put on the salad? I dont like onions or peppers of any kind by the way. Thanks for any suggestions mofos.

Meat. Or Muscle Milk. A Cookies and Cream Salad sounds kind of good right now. *wanders into kitchen*.

I have about 6 MM RTDs in my refrigerator staring at me everytime I open it up, torture I tell you. Don't ever go to the subfighter.com nutrition forums, want to see a group of clueless people giving advice? Ugh, I read a few threads about MM and wanted to cry.

OK, back on topic. Throw some beans in and lean chicken breast. Half the fun of a salad for me is shoving as many vegetables as I can into it. Meat and lettuce in a bowl just doesn't sound as good as lettuce, corn, 3 kinds of peppers, onions, mushrooms, red beans, sunflower seeds and a few rasins topped with a nice fat free honey mustard dressing. Yummm.

Chicken breast, garlic, spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese and a bit of olive oil. For extra carbs throw in cubed whole wheat pita or regular bread.

I'm glad someone picked up on the sarcasm.
Still, I like chicken with anything. Lean chicken or turkey as a side or in the salad won't hurt anything.

im having a salad tonight. throw in an egg or 2 boiled, some chicken breast, lots of leafy green. i even throw some nuts in lately, the old man threw in lots of brazil nuts. yummy

Thanks for the suggestions, I like the sounds of trying out some different nuts in the salad, I never really thought of that.

Walnuts are great in salad. If you put about a tsp of olive oil in a pan and a tbsp of water and cook a frozen chicken breast. Add the walnuts at the end to toast them then pour it over your salad.

It makes a good dressing and added flavor for meat addicts like me.

I like a variety of greens to keep up the variety. Endive, spinach, red/green leaf lettuce, arugala, and radicchio are all good choices. On top of that, you can toss on fruit (orange sections, apples, pears, none of it canned please), nuts, olives, tomatoes, strong cheese (feta or bleu), then some form of protein (egg, beans, or chicken).

I put all sorts of stuff on.

Tons of olive oil. Eggs, ham, fruit, nuts, etc.

The sky is the limit.

When you really think about it you mix almost anything healthy with a salad and it makes it better. I've put everything from steamed vegetables to horseradish. I have even put mustard, ketchup, and vinegar. The mixture makes a good low fat dressing. You can add olive oil for taste.

Actually, vinegar, mustard and olive oil is a classic vinaigrette base, so you're not far off. The mustard acts as an emulsifier to help bind the vinegar (polar) and oil (non-polar) together.

flaxseed meal, broccoli, carrots, peas.

Absolutely! Flaxseed meal is awesome as well as flaxseed oil.
Braggs Amino Acid mixed with your dressing is full of nutrients and has a beefy soy sauce taste.

Definitely ditch the lettuce for spinach. Almost all of the aforementioned suggestions are good as well; I use hard-boiled eggs, tons of fat-free cheese, canned tuna or salmon, chicken breasts, etc.

Watch the dressing, I use red wine vinegar.

here's another dressing idea...
1 part apple cider vinegar, 1/2 part honey, 1 1/2 part oil and dash of cayenne.

and yeah... spinach owns. I use it to substitute for lettuce in everything.

add some Edamame (green soy beans) in to the mix. they have more or similiar protein content and less fat than beef and chicken. you can find them at the local asian marts. they taste pretty good and give the salad some texture, and they can keep fresh for quite awhile.

Old school lettuce has definitly been bitch slapped by much hardier greens. I love the angry bitter taste of arugula.

and don't get me started on steaming greens, I'm crazy like that.

Spinach with bacon, red pepper and a warm vinagrette.
