Sakuraba was a JMMA beast

So true, I cannot think of anyone that is even close. And he seems like a truly humble and kind individual as well.

Some might last a year or two, but they do not stand the test of time.
Very rare to see anyone have anything bad to say about the guy. He was a true OG of that Japanese "let's give my everything, kill or be killed, never say die" mentality. He didn't win them all, but that mentality allowed him to overcome situations where others would have surely wilted. And, even while he was all business in a fight, he always seemed like he was simply just having fun. Factor in that he fought essentially up in weight his entire career, while heavily drinking and smoking during training camps, he's kinda a marvel.

Anyone who is a fan of MMA should respect Sakuraba. He truly represented everything there is to love about MMA. There have really been very few like him, he was truly pretty unique in the annals of MMA history.

Sakuraba is the main proof behind styles making fights and MMA math not adding up for me. A guy who is his prime was highly capable of defeating a Derrick Lewis or Alex Periera and also capable of being beating by Paul Felder.

Someone who would just fight anyone and pulled off some really amazing wins and had really shocking losses as well.

One of the real pioneers of the game.

Respect.

Sakuraba's battles with the Gracies is Martial arts history. Immortality.
