Final Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine (14-3) earned himself the biggest win of his career against Nate Marquardt (32-11) last weekend. Saffiedine, who compiled a 12-1-1 record as an amateur kickboxer, all but booked a place in the UFC with his leg kick clinic. He told ESPN he had expected more offense from “The Great.”

“It went as planned, you know, I knew that I could hurt him with my leg kicks and when I saw that he felt my leg kick, I kept going on it. He’s pretty explosive so I stayed on the outside a little bit and I felt pretty good about my game plan … I was expecting him to be a little more aggressive, but he wasn’t, you know. But he’s pretty strong, pretty explosive at the same time and it was an honour fighting him … I cannot really talk about UFC because I haven’t really been approached by them.”
