Because I already pointed out foreign markets get about half. Your article agrees with me.

I said that A LONG time ago, bro.
You're agreeing with me.

Dude, take the L and start letting people talk about the movie the thread is made for.
Why should I take a L when every source confirms that with major studio releases the studios take half.

I'm sitting pretty with my massive W.

100% of the ticket sales go to the studio... for the first two weeks for some releases?

That means the theaters are showing those movies at a loss for those two weeks because they have to operate the theater and clean up after every showing.

The theaters also make money from the concession stands. I don’t know if it’s the same in the US but when I go to the movies, I usually end up spending more on the snacks and drinks than I do on the ticket.

Please provide examples that a theater sold tickets and gave 90% - 100% of the revenue to the distributor.... so they could sell concessions.
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that once again you aren't factoring concessions. With how consolidated the movie market has become and streaming, theaters don't have much leverage. Hence they usually are taking less than even splits and trying to make up money elsewhere.

It's why Disney can demand that theaters black out entire days to show only Marvel films at the expense of anything else.

Yeah, I won't deny seeing long lines for concessions during primetime hours.
That certainly is a factor, but I need examples of theaters taking only a small percentage of the ticket sales in order to make those concession sales.

Because practically every source I've seen confirms for major studio releases they're keeping around 50%.

Now they charge for condiments

I saw it yesterday. It's not bad. I think it's a 7-8 movie. 7 vs normal movies and 8 if compared to other movies in the vampire genre. Vampire genre is usually hot trash. I am not a music person but I can recognize that they put some effort in the movie. I think it can be considered a musical. I think strong/boring for others start then good entrance with vampires but meh towards the end. This movie was a bit long so I am assuming there were a lot of stuff that had to be cut out.

Everyone should just watch the film so we can talk about it without spoiling anyone. The stuff about how much it makes is bullshit. It doesn't affect the quality of the film.

The white girl in the film is not white

I think that character was added to highlight the absurdity of the One Drop Rule.

By every phenotypic metric, that was a white woman. But because she had 1 grandparent who was 1/2 black, in the eyes of Jim Crow, she was black.

And credit where it’s due, Coogler went and found a fairly well known actress with almost the exact same ancestry and appearance. Only difference is Hailee Steinfeld’s maternal grandparent was 1/2 black, 1/2 Filipino, instead of 1/2 black, 1/2 white.

I know but I was joking though 😁

I'm so old I remember learning about the one drop rule from the musical showboat.

Royally fucked up.
