Yeah, that's more of a belly to belly press/slam. A belly to belly suplex arches the back and dumps them behind you.

not a wrestling expert but i would think it would of been more effective if jon turned with the slam instead of using all his strength to go straight back (which is impressive that he was able to pick bonnar up like that considering how lanky jon is)

That is the best suplex in history, but a little overblown. It couldn't have done THAT much damage if Fedor tapped him out 30 seconds later..
