I think that in some of the most extreme corners of Team Progress there is a certain tendency to frame it like traditional wives were never given a choice/were manipulated/oppressed into taking on the traditional role. Kind of like some people you are racist you just don t know it. Of course this kind of narrative is horseshit, but it did creep into the mainstrem to some extent in the last decade.
I think that generally, there is absolutely some sort of culture war going on with 2 belligerants who won’t leave the opposite side alone and everything is polarised.

i don't think there's really any correlation between people doing racist shit without being aware & feminists criticizing women who prefer more traditional gender roles. feminism has always been centered on women simply having the freedom to be what they please, whether that be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen or a tech CEO

There are way more lonely men complaining about lack of trad women than there are women who criticize women who choose to stay at home rather than work. The guys who are absolutist about the topic tend to be weirdo religious zealots or guys who are actually extremely controlling.

This is from someone who thinks the ideal situation is someone stays home with the kids (be it the man or woman).

And one problem that does seem to pop up in some of these situations is that if someone is dedicated to the kids then the working parent may be less involved. In the sense they feel they are making the money so they don't have to deal with the kids.
