Russia: we don't want war with NATO, but will nuke Denmark if they join

Russia on the charm offensive. I know geographically denmark is a good tactical position for Russia but every time I hear about Russia threatening Denmark it just feels really random. It's like they just decided "fuck denmark, hate those guys."

We just can't ignore them and laugh at their futile efforts. Russia is a nuclear power who wants to come back to their glory days where nations respected/feared them. I have no idea if "Russia" is dumb as a whole, that's a lot of people with a huge variation of ideas.

But some of their national statements? Dumb.

'Hey, you do that, and we'll start a NUCLEAR WAR.' Which they will lose. We'll all lose, but they will lose it worse in the way that they have absolutely no hope of achieving any kind of victory by doing so.

Arguing against something by threatening to go fully Nuclear is pretty stupid, there's no way around it. Mostly these statements are made for the Russian people, to try and convince them that their politicians and military are strong and capable of standing up to the world, that they are a world power to be feared and respected. But nuking denmark goes one of two ways, and neither has Russia 'winning'.

Russia just telling it like it is. This missile defense shield is a bunch of crap as it will never work against Russia's capabilities. Too many missiles, masking capabilities that cannot be defeated. I do not understand why the US and other NATO states even risk it. If Russia feels that its deterrent is threatened, things will be dark in Europe. But that is something that I and other people have been saying for at least six years.
