do you have to eat anything before you run i was just wondering cause i was watching spikes tv all access andrie arlovski and he ran then ate is that a good idea

Ideally you would want some quality carbs before running to give you energy during your cardio and also carbs after to replenish glycogen that you have now used up.

But there's whole another group of people that advise things like fasted cardio for maximal fat loss and etc....which is a whole different monster of a topic.

That's the question isn't it. Many will say run on an empty stomach for more fat burning. Some say don't eat after you run for the same reason. I say bunk. For those very few extra calories you may burn you are depriving your body of fuel it needs.

I eat before a run, sometimes during a run and some protein after a run. It's what I feel I need to do to keep my body running at the level I want it running at. I would say experiment and see what works best for you. Keep a food journal....note what foods and when you eat them make you perform better. Good lcuk

I went on a running-binge for a few months. This consisted of just running the hell out of treadmills and tracks everyday. On an empty stomache, I almost always gassed and couldn't complete my running. I'd highly recommend eating something before you run, but have common sense. Don't devour like a rotisserie chicken before you hit the track.

I usually down a carb drink before cardio and it works fine.

I hate running on an empty stomach, I've only done it one time in the past... 4 months maybe, and theres a good reason why. The run was shit, time was way too high and I was gassed twice as fast as I normally am.

I always eat about 1-2 hours before a run. I also eat afterwards... an example meal would be a piece of fruit and a protein bar.
