Rumor: Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson 'verbally agreed' for October event

Soooooooooo is Dan magically ranked #9 now or are they even gonna bother pretending this is deserved?

He'll be #7 by the time the fight happens. Same thing they did with Erick Silva before his fight with Matt Brown. He magically jumped up several spots.

The only upside to this is the potential of Bisping's shit talking. This fight does nothing for me, even as a Bisping nut-hugger. Hendo doesn't deserve the shot, and the fact that he's getting it over Romero, Jacare, etc, is idiotic.
 
No time for this fight, at all.

Much more deserving contenders, the challenger is 60yrs old and will probably retire even if he wins, which then cheapens the title. Could create a real shambles and won't be an entertaining fight, to boot.
 
Everyone thinks it will be a remake from UFC 100, Mousasi put Hendo away...He doesn`t take to much to put Hendo out this days.
 
Dan is obviously the rightful #1 contender. This fight is not a joke.
 
Normally I wouldn't like a fight like this but it is Hendo.

-Henderson is a legend
-He is about to retire
-Gave Bisping his worse loss (Bisping gets a chance to avenge it ...like Chuck vs Horn)
-Bisping already clearly isn't the best MW (I would even pick the #8 ranked Mousasi against him)
-I want to see Hendo retire with the belt at the age of 46 (would be a great story)

Henderson doesn't deserve a shot but you can make an exception for a legend like him. Bisping wasn't the most deserving of the shot either
 
First title defense and there is history between them. Of course they're making this fight.

Not saying it's gonna be a good fight or deserved. Just how it is.

Why does it need to be deserved based on rankings? That is likely the best drawing match for Bisping at the moment. Given the UFC 100 history and both guys contribution to MMA why not give them a reward. Jacare is not a draw. Romero is not a draw. Rockhold and Whinerman are both coming off losses. I say have have 4 man tourney - Weid, Rock, Romero, and Jacare on the same card as Bisping / Hendo. If Hendo wins and retires - the two winners fight for the vacant title with Bisping getting next shot. If Bisping wins most impressive of the two winners gets the title shot with the other one on deck.

I mean the basis for this fight is an event that happened a hundred UFCs ago. Take the names out, that alone is ridiculous.

I'm not getting paid, I'm being asked to pay. Kim Kardashian vs Donald Trump in a tickle fight would draw, I still don't wanna see it.

I'm here for the most competitive fights with the top talent in the sport. Not decade old grudge matches that set the division back.
 
Combate is not a good source, so I added 'Rumor' to the thread title.

That said, I do think this fight will happen.
 
I'm glad Hendo really proved himself over Jacare, that performance against Lombard was probably enough to make him no.1 contender
 
Not deserved... but will watch.

Love to see Bisping remain champ... OR... Love to see Hendo get dat belt.

Win/Win for me... but yeah... holding up a division over more worthy title contenderz.

Still believe Weidman'z work with NY legislation gets him the shot on the NY card.
 
Inb4 breaking news: UFC fighter Ronaldo Souza has gone on a shooting spree in a nearby shopping mall, killing 23 people and injuring 15...

Don't understand people saying it won't be competitive. This is a great fight to make, just not the right fight to make. I am not going to knock the UFC for making it happen.
