Assuming Jones beats DC in April, (not overlooking DC) Rumble will likely be Jones next opponent. I think this fight would be awesome if they can get it on the UFC 200 card. And could easily be the headline IMO

Anyway I think this is the toughest fight for Jones so far. I think that Rumble is going to ko him in the first. Jones is a great fighter but Rumble has looked unstoppable lately and I think he is a bad match up for Jon. Rumble is excellent at closing the distance and landing bombs. Jones isn't really going to try and smother/grind on Rumble and take him down like DC. I don't think Jones will be able to keep Rumble at bay and Rumble will close the distance and put him away early. This is the first time I Am ever picking against Jones.

Thoughts?

Why on Earth would you think that? Jones has wrestlefucked the living shit out of pretty much everyone at LHW, and Rumble has always been prone to wilting when thrown into grappling matches. You'd better believe Greg Jackson is, even as we speak, connecting the "WRESTLE" and "FUCK" nodes in rumblejohnson.ppt

He'd be silly not to try and 'grind out' Rumble.

I think that because DC has a different style to Jones. Jones isn't as grinding as DC. Jones is likely to try and pick Rumble apart on the outside. Also Like DC even said to beat AJ and take him down you need to be willing to take some damage.

DC nearly had his head knocked off when he fought AJ and has a solid chin. I'm not sure if Jon could take a shot like that.

The reason Jones isn't as "grinding" is because he tends to overwhelm opponents in the clinch and maul them PDQ. If, by some quirk of style, AJ is able to stalemate action in the clinch Jones would grind him out. Think of the Rampage fight - we all remember him dancing around, poking eyes and kicking knees, but he also did a Hell of a lot to wear Rampage down in the clinch. Think of Jones/Cormier, where he was able to wear DC down pretty effectively. Now think of Rumble vs. Vitor, where he wore himself out despite dominating the grappling, or vs. Phil Davis where he couldn't put away a dude with damn near 0 striking.

Jones is a lot taller.

It is true that DC and Jones have 2 different types of wrestling styles and that what worked for DC might not work for Jones. It is still not a good idea to bet against Jones at this point especially if he beats Cormier again. Now, if he moves up I might bet against him because in HW lies his true nightmare fights.

Jones is a lot taller.

It should be noted that striking aptitude can be measured in ways other than offense. Davis has excellent striking defense.

AJ loses his knee 3 minutes into this fight given the weight he maintains on his front leg. This site explodes on this legal technique and goes ape S calling Jon a cheap fighter, since AJ has to walk with s horrible limp the rest of his life.

Rumble is overrated.
That being said.
Yes.
Want to see that fight, He can KO anybody if he connect.
Too much power.
But If that fight pass the first round,
Bones will hurt him bad!

If anything he is really underrated. Don't see what's overated about him he has pretty much smashed most of the guys his fought at LHW and has looked super dangerous yet people don't give him much of a chance against Jones. I'm not sure why.

When I think overrated someone like Gus comes to mind.

He got no gas tank
Bad Loss Vs Kos and Belfort .
Best Win : Phil Davis.
Gus is also overated yes.
But don't get me wrong I LOVE Rumble. One of the most exciting fighter Ever. But I just can't imagine that guy becoming a champion.
Rumble Vs Glover is the fight I want to see next.
That would be awesome.

Not including his welterweight fights which happened years ago. Let's look at how dominant he has been at 205 lately. The only loss his had of any relevance would be dc and to be fair Rumble could have possibly won that fight if he had been preparing for DC instead of Jones and not blown his gas tank too early which was more of a pacing issue IMO.

Glad we agree on something. Anyway overrated means when someone gets more credit then they deserve and I feel as if AJ dosen't get the credit he deserves. Lot's of people talk shit and say his one dimensional and has no gas tank. I think he is actually pretty well rounded now and could easily beat Jones or DC. Yet everyone keeps overlooking him.
