Put his chin in the air, backpedalling wildly at that slop Ngannou threw at him. If he'd shelled up in the pocket and came forward he would have stifled those strikes and had a chance to clinch or circle away. Francis came forward like a berserker because he knew Rozenstruik was no threat for the takedown.

I know, inb4 arm chair quarterback, but I've taken enough boxing classes to know that's what you see in beginner sparring and drills. Ngannou just had to throw because he knew eventually one would land and that's all it took.

So you've taken a few womens foxy boxing classes and think you can understand the pressure of having somone as powerful and imposing as Francis rushing in at you throwing life ending bombs?

Practicing in front of your mirrior at home where you're safe is one thing but doing it under pressure is completely different

I think he's a very good striker - he just got overwhelmed there. It's easy to be technical and fundamental when you are throwing a few combo's at a time, and exchanging with the opponent.

But when your opponent just bullrushes you like that, it really is kill or be killed and the pressure on you to land something is enormous. Ngannou is a beast

I think he's used to being the one applying the pressure so once the tables were turned he got caught.

Moving straight back like that was an amateur move. He should have circled away.

He actually landed a couple of heavy shots, but Ngannou just ate them and plowed forward.

This guy breaks it down pretty good:

I told my casual friend before the fight that Roz would KO him in the first round, probably in the first minute, because I expected his counter in that exact scenario to devastate Ngannou. Instead he was off balance and/or didn't have the power to slow Ngannou down with it and got melted.

His defense has never been elite, even in his fight with overeem he showed lots of flaws there, that vs overeem is just suicide

He throws technically solid, hard strikes but to me it seems he keep his head and torso way too stiff and stationary. If Overeem had more punching power he probably would have slept him too. He was catching him right on the button also. Just lacked that Ngannou power. It seems that it's pretty easy to hit Bigi Boy but he does have a pretty solid chin so it takes someone like Frank to really hurt him.

The right hand definately was there for the taking but Roz didn't throw it crisp enough. Woulda been interesting to see if Francis could eat a flush right hand from Roz
