20-2 with his only losses being to Prime Matt Hughes and Kazushi Sakuraba?

For being an undersized Jiu Jitsu guy.

Who else can say such a thing. Royce is a badass.

Not as good as Ricksons. 400-0.

He fought handpicked opponents, the first UFC event was a promo piece for Gracie Jiu Jitsu. They didn’t let Marco Ruas in there because he would have ate Royce up, because unlike everyone else around that time, he had both grappling and striking experience.

If Ruas had entered the Gracie’s would have sent in Rickson.

Nah, Helio's was better.

Over 1000000 wins, UFC would probably still cut him for being boring.

Ruas would have still wrecked Rickson.

The King of the Streets baby

That's a load of bullshit, imo.

They put up ufc 1 on YouTube a few days ago. Really cool to watch, don't think I have every seen it before. Royce handled Shamrock so easily

Yeah, who the fuck would pick a fight with Dan Severn when you weigh 160lbs. After UFC 1, they showed they didn't exactly pick favourable fights.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they didn't want to fight that guy..

here we fucking go. That doesn’t change the fact he’s a bad ass. He went against guys like Kimo and Severn. Pretty awesome for a scrawny guy.

Yeah but Ruas can only beat him once. Ruas can't make others beat Royce.

He once was the rule by which all other fighters were measured. He taught the world to fight. Everyone else had to adapt to him. Stuff of legend.

Good record and legend in the sport, but fought mostly bums and is a terrible person (like most of the old school Gracies).

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I believe Royce is much tougher than Marco Ruas. Royce by submission. Also, yeah, Rickson has all the credentials and accolades but he always looked subpar in MMA. Royce fought some legends and more than held his own.

That's a badass dude .

I know Royce is a pioneer of the sport, but id be really curious to see how he would do in the UFC if he was in his prime currently, with the level of BJJ that we currently see.

His two losses were the only time he fought MMA. All his other UFC fights were his Jiu Jitsu vs another specialist.
