Roxy vs Barber- How does it end?!

Most likely outcome, Roxy is way underrated, especially against some as green as barber

So many people call Roxy underrated that she has become very overrated..... am I the only one who remembered that her last fight was getting beaten easily by a mere Jennifer Maia? Barber has a huge athletism edge over Roxy, I don't know if she is stronger but she is certainly faster and more agile. Hard for me to see how Roxy beats Barber, yeah sure maybe she has an edge on the ground but how is she going to bring the fight there?

Not trying to shit on WMMA...but a lot of takedowns that dont work when men try them, seem to work every time women try them lol.

i still cant believe ben said macey is gonna be the champ by the end of the year<36> only way she beats val is if val slips on a banana peel

Wmma by decision is usually the answer, but may not be here. Guess we'll see

How do you guys see this fight going?

Personally, I dont understand the hype with Barber. She's very exciting and aggressive but technique wise she doesn't honestly impress me, definitely not enough to call the next champ or hot prospect.

You don't understand the hype? Let's see you just mentioned exciting and aggressive. Maybe that's why..?

Don't forget that not everybody has your technical eye. Seeing that her technique "doesn't honestly impress" you.

Im not underestimating Roxy at all, but I can see her getting bullied by Maycee. I'm basing that off the reactions of the girls that have been hit by her. She just seems like she has alot more sting to her punches the most of the girls in her division.

Maia cheated by fighting way overweight, difficult for a ground specialist to deal with.

against nobody's

Who is somebody and who is a nobody in WMMA Flyweight?

Aren't all women fighters nobodies except Nunez and Shevchenko?

Barber is a young talented aggressive fighter who finished decent fighters like Robertson, Aldrich and Cifers, all of whom are younger and have better records in the UFC than the 37-year old Modafferi with her 2-4 record in the UFC.

Or are you a WMMA aficionado who has closely studied Barber, Robertson, Aldrich, Cifers and Modafferi and truly believe that Modafferi is a "somebody" who is currently better than those three nobodies?

I really didn't realise that any female could be so unattractive.
I think Maycee Barber wins...She is chunky and has that KO power.

this fight has mismatch written all over it, giving me flashbacks to mendes vs cody.
but it's wmma, so who knows.

Cifers is an atomweight , JJ sucks
Robertson stoppage I think was poor, she wasnt hurting her

It ends with a mess all over my shirt and feelings of guilt and shame.

I remember the odds being somewhat favorable for the Cifers fight so I threw a few bucks on her. They got in the cage and I just laughed. JFC that size difference.

Cifers looked like a child trying to fight off an adult.

I'm willing to bet she pulls guard, or maybe a trip Lyoto esc

The idea that wmma fights go to decision is more about weight than gender. Nearly 50% of UFC heavyweight fights end via KO/TKO and that diminishes by weight until you get down to 22% at fly weight.

At bantamweight more women's fights end via KO/TKO than in the equivalent men's division, indeed a higher percentage than at men's feather and lightweight as well.
Thanks again for the link. I dug into the data a bit....although "dug" may be a bit too strong. I can't find a lot of the information that I'm after....specifically which fighters were involved in the *16* women's featherweight fights that are listed.

I noticed that the lowest number of fights for a men's division is 196....the flyweights. Then, it jumps to 409 and continues to go up from there.

For the women's divisions, the lowest number of fights is with the featherweights at 16, as I already noted. This is pretty small, so I figured I could find a list of *all* of the UFC women's featherweight fights to see who is finishing all these fights. Not so easy.

But...not to argue with you, but with so few fights and such fighters like Cyborg and Nunes, I think you may agree that the sample size is too low and the fighters at the top may contribute to this division being a bit of an exception. I wonder how it would look if it had the number of fighters/fights that the other divisions have...?

I do think weight plays a role, as I believe you mentioned, but I also think this division's exceptionally high finish rate is skewed a bit because of the low number of fights and because many of those fights involved Cyborg and/or Nunes.

I'm not sure why you bring up featherweight, I ignored that division precisely because the sample is so small.

The division I mentioned was bantamweight which is the longest established women's division in the UFC and there the KO/TKO finish rate is indeed higher than the male equivalent and even higher than the male feather and lightweight divisions.

Weight is obviously the major factor in KO/TKO finishes as a look at the men's division shows, the same is true for women - compare 135 and 115.
