Some say that the weight of the Bent Over Row should be the same as the Bench Press

But should the weight of the Seated Cable Row also be the same as the Bench Press?

My Bench Press is 1 X 85 kilo (185 lbs) and my Seated Cable Row is 5 x 85 kilo (185 lbs). So, they are similar.

The seated will be hard to compare because of the pulley and feet being braced. Are you using the same shoulder width grip like the bar? Or the V attachment. Can move more weight with V-grip also.

I use the V attachment.

They say that because alot of lifters neglect their back work because it's not a main lift.

Giving say a 1 to 1 ratio is good way to battle imbalances. Even if it's arbitrary ( which it is) the point is to simply be strong in both movement plans.

I used to figure that I should BB row at least what I benched. However, I switched from barbell rows to DB rows and haven't looked back. I added a thick handle to my adjustable DB to increase grip work It's not a strict row, but more like throwing a low reverse elbow. It's higher rep (I can only get like 100lbs on my thick DB handle, but I think it's a better overall exercise.

I can dumbbell row slightly more than what I can dumbbell bench press. That's about the closest comparison I can think of when it comes to amount of weight moved.
