Rousey's handlers will never let her move up in weight to fight Cyborg.

This is why that fight isn't going to happen. When a fighter becomes as big a star as Rousey they get all these people attached to them. It's the same thing that happened to Fedor back when he was big, and that's why he never went to the UFC.

Cyborg shouldn't have to move down, and Ronda shouldn't be pressured to move up if she doesn't want to. However, if Ronda Rousey did really want to her handlers would never allow it.

cyborg and rousey will never happen, unless cyborg can prove she can consistently make 135.

until then rousey will be fighting women who picked up MMA to get into shape a few years ago. Im betting half her opponents still have day jobs

You're absolutely spot on about Rousey but the difference with comparing her to Fedor is that Fedor back in pride was in a division that was very competitive were as
Rousey is superior to everyone in her division on purpose if the ufc really gave her the toughest fight they could than they would have made a fight between her and Cyborg but they didn't because they would rather have Rousey destroy inferior opponents and portray her as the second coming when in reality she is the least tested fighter ever except for her fights with miesha tate, and as for Fedor not joining the ufc at the time he was pride HW champ so there was no need for him to
join ufc, even after pride folded he was still considered the champion of the world
and defeated the two ufc champs of his era Sylvia and Arlovski, during his time in SF
he lost the title to Werdum but he still had fights left on his contract and even after those he was pretty well done with making any serious run at a title the fihgts against Monson and the others were just M1 and his fanbase trying to convince him
to stay fighting and no one should blame him for retiring at that point after fighting for nearly 13 years at the highest level of the sport so your point about him not joining the ufc is bogus.

I thought the reason the fight isnt going to happen because Cyborg cant make the required weight to be able to fight in the UFC?

Someone who gets it. She's making millions of $ now, her handlers will protect her income any way they can, that's their job.

The reason Fedor never went to the UFC was because M1 wanted any Fedor UFC show to be co promotion and the UFC understandably didn't want to do it. Nothing to do with Fedors handlers only wanting him to fight "cans".

It's not that they won't let her.

Nobody in their right mind would give any possible advantage to Cyborg because her winning that fight kills all the positive momentum WMMA has seen lately.

Cyborg has taken steroids and mutated herself into something that is very unmarketable, and unappealing to watch for most fans. If all the fighters then have to juice up like her and look like Wanderlei Silva in a sports bra, WMMA turns into The WNBA again which gets similar ratings as "leave it to beaver" re-runs.

She wants a chance to make a name for herself off Rousey? Shut the fuck up and make the weight, and pass the drug tests.

Anything other than that, go the fuck back where you came from. The end.

She has zero reason to move up. Cyborg could easily make 135 if she just stops fucking lifting weights as her primary way of training.

I agree,Dana already knows what happened the last time his "star" fought a woman who actually has fight IQ and can actually throw a real punch. Say whatever you want about cyborg all the drugs in the world don't improve technic. Plus it seems the UFC will continue to dance around her fighting Borg all the while knowing they will just continue to make fights she will win all the while touting how dangerous her opponent is. The prospect of her possibly fighting cyborg is what keeps people watching.

And for the record Rogan slobbering all over Honda with those ridiculous remarks after the fight is only making him look like a dumbass. Comparing Honda to the likes of Ali and Tyson is disgusting, and if I was either man I'd tell Rogan to slow his roll on the verbal diarrhea he has.

Pretty sure Cyborg would make the weight if she could. Making the weight would mean she would go from making pennies in Invicta to making real money in the UFC, even if she loses to Rousey...

Also I think Rousey DOES have a reason to move up. The reason is to prove herself that she is the best female fighter in the world. I think Rousey is the kind of person who cares about things like that and she herself wouldn't mind going up in weight either.

The TS is more right than you would like to admit. It's her handlers, including the UFC, who don't want her to do it. She can be a big star dominating tomato cans and make lots of money for everybody. For the UFC it would be a waste of money to setup the 145 division (another paperthin women's division), not to mention she could lose. Besides casual fans don't even know who Cyborg is, hardcore fans are the only ones who care about this fight.

It would make sense if by "people" he meant the few hundred hardcore fans on the internet who desperately want to see Rousey lose.

Most casuals either don't know or care who the fuck Cyborg is, and the prospect of facing her has nothing to do with Rousey's current popularity.

When Fedor went to Strikeforce they arguably had a better HW division at the time than the UFC did.

    Don't compare the two.

It's also funny how the people who constantly use Cyborg to discredit Rousey's run don't seem to care that Cyborg is a 170 lb. steroid cheat who's built a career on mauling much smaller women. Even in spite of her supposed "superior" striking, she always stops people on accumulation and has never put anybody clean out like Rousey did to Davis and Bethe.

If Rousey hadn't blown up after the Strikeforce merger, none of the people talking about Cyborg on these forums would give two shits about her. She would have been a laughing stock after she popped for steroids.

^ This. It's probably not in the best interest of WMMA to turn it into a freakshow. People will argue that it's not possible for Cyborg to make 135. If so, then maybe we just have to accept they are in different weight classes like the men are? Is she too big solely from past accusations of PEDs? Who knows, maybe she also has the genetics for carrying a large amount of lean mass. It's definitely not the norm for a female to struggle to make 145 with that low of bodyfat percentage.

I'll say it again...it's Sunday here in SoCal and if I'm one of CYBORGS handlers I drive to her apartment today with the Sunday real estate section and A sauna suit so she can start cutting weight and house shopping....because if she does the first thing the second thing can happen
