Okay, it's likely Ronda Rousey will retire after tonight, as she probably knows she is not going to get the belt again and it's not like she needs the money.

However, if she was to continue, which could very much mean changing camps, perhaps it would be wise instead of concentrating on boxing she should focus on wrestling.

It is clear from tonight her boxing is not good enough offensively or defensively and although, she can make improvements it will never be better than for example Nunes. She needs to get the fight to the ground and in order to do that she needs to close the distance. Boxing her way in and getting punched in the face to get to the clinch will get her knocked out like it did tonight before she gets that chance.

If she was to mix her judo play with wrestling and namely going for a double leg, it will allow her to close the distance and even if they manage to stuff it, she is closer to being able to get to the clinch or even drag them onto the ground.

Her striking was probably better when she was in strikeforce, it was a better blend of striking and grappling. Now she tries to box

Well as I said, she probably is done and won't fight again.

She needs to get the fight to the ground, and relying on the clinch to get it there is not working if they are not just bum rushing her. One way would be improve the double leg to get to the clinch rather than boxing.

Her knees are basically shot is what I've read. It more or less prevents her from utilizing wrestling style takedowns.

Maybe true, but going for judo throws although uses hips does probably just put as much pressure on knees too I would imagine.

I enjoy her no head movement and walking into punches.
Why are you so critical of it?

Just a Do Nothin Bitch that cant fight, decent judoka though.

So, in other words, her striking was better when she didn't act want to strike.

From what I read in the past, she can't because her knees are shot.

So your saying Ronda needs to go to ATT or TAM

No. It's not necessarily the camp itself. But she somehow needs to find another avenue to get to the clinch, cause bumrushing them or getting bum rushed won't cut it. Least the double leg she can close the distance and if they sprawl on her she can drag it to the ground.

Wrestling/takedowns are not her problem. Once she gets a hold of opponents, she's pretty effective with her judo repertoire which is light years more sophisticated than a double/single leg. Her real problem is stand up/boxing.

As I said, the takedown is not the problem but getting to the clinch is if they are not just charging in and against a good boxer. Using Double leg to get to the clinch even if they do stuff it maybe one way to do it, as keeping it boxing long enough is not working.

My friend was saying this as we watched. Truth.

If you can't strike with your opponent at all getting double leg is not going to be any easier than getting a judo type takedown. Tate just got crushed by Nunes and she is a double/single leg specialist. Ronda has spent her whole life developing the takedowns she currently has. What she needs is to take a long time off and get into a gym where she can learn some real striking fundamentals.

Yes, but at least Tate did manage to get Nunes to the ground . How Ronda would have done if she managed to get her to the ground, as she is better than Tate may have panned out differently. Emphasis is getting it to the ground, an as I said even if she doesnt get the takedown from the double/single leg, she ends up in clinch is where she wants to be.

I was thinking the same thing, adding a single or double leg to her game. And working on her movement, she stands very straight/stiff, plodding around, like a judoka. Not sure how much sparring she does, but maybe focus on doing more sparring and less pad work

In my expert kbw opinion
