Is a deadlift supposed to be done whitout any rounding at all in the back area? I tried deadlifting for the first time ever this week and when i pulled 462ibs for tripples some guys in the gym sayed i was doing it wrong, that i should arch my back the whole way, i did not feel any discomfort in my back at that moment but they sayed that I will injure myself pulling that "much" weight and i shouldnt try to lift that weight if i cant arch. Whats your take on this?

It's ok, the first time I deadlifted I pulled 595lbs for 6. My back was rounded but I don't care

Thats some weight, didnt know that was possible the first time:icon_lol: And i do care, i dont want to get injured, i have to much to loose from that.

You'll care if your back gets hurt.

Honestly, there are different styles for deadlift. Depends on what you're trying to accomplish - if you're moving big weights (and for most people 400+ is a big weight) you probably need to watch your form more closely.

I wouldn't say arch your back as much as don't round it - you can do damage over-arching too.

Find a decent PLing site and check the form tips there - here's the one I like the most, but you can find info all over:

man dude just take it easy the first 2 weeks I was repping out 130 lbs. But then on the 3rd week I decided to go full blast and I was repping out 575 for reps easily, and I only weight 90 lbs.

Wow there are some strong guys here. I was never any good at reps when I started and could only pull like 405 for 6 my first day but my max was like 755lbs. the second time I deadlifted. Must be lots of fast twitch fibres in my legs...

If you can negatively arch your back while doing dead lifts the whole time, you're a goddamn freak.

very slight rounding of the back is fine when doing heavy reps.

Are you guys making fun of me?:( I dont know, just get that feeling.

Well duh, i mean, your first time deadlifting and you only pull 462 for a triple? Cmon, pick up the slack...

I have been lifting heavy logs and trees my whole life, since my father owns a shitload of acre. That makes you strong, and i weigh around 190lbs to. I just went there, started easy but realised that i can pull some plates, so i did, im not here to measure my cock with anyone.

ur fucked up, its easy as hell to injure yourselves doing deadlift wrong
