So tristar always comes up with game plan, what do you guys think will be this game plan?

circle, jab, duck under, td, grapple/gnp

rinse'n'repeat until either get a finish or get ko'd

Something like:

KTFO Thompson...He can do it....either on the ground or stand up, his boxing is way better than that karate boy.

I'm pretty sure LOTS of jabs will be involved.

Same strategy he had against Che Mills.

Close the range quickly, clinch up and either clinch fight or if possible get the fight to the ground and pound Wonderboy out. Easier said than done though.

Take it in the face and put that new nose to the test. If it holds up, proceed to destroy Vunderguy.

Feints and leg kicks at long range. Move to mid range and pressure with the jab and occasional jab-cross. Cut off the cage and initiate the clinch against it (the more WB grapples the slower his strikes will be) and work for the takedown. Although I'll be interested to see how and if the takedowns come about in this fight.

Something that hasn't been mentioned much is that WB has worked extensively with Matt Miller (who is the head wrestling coach at Tristar) for his past couple camps.

I do think a 5 round fight favours Rory more than WB. The amount of movement and kicking that WB does is exhausting. And Rory has a propensity for potshotting and feinting in the early stages of a fight so it might be harder for WB to get any meaningful offense to land clean while he's still fresh.

Stay in the boxing range
Keep Thompson against the cage
Cut him off if he tries to move laterally allowing himself to get into kicking range

The key is distance
For both Rory and Wonderboy, it's all about distance

Get close to Wonderboy without eating anything, then mix up punches, clinch against the fence or a takedown. Rory is stronger physically but he also stays a bit flat footed.

This is exactly what I was thinking the other day when thinking of Rory vs Thompson.

It could be a great striking battle, but both guys are above average wrestlers.
Lol no,one of them is

The other has above average takedown defence

You think he'll be able to back him off against the cage and keep him there? WB'S footwork is very elusive.

I haven't watched the cote fight, how's WB's cardio?
