I know Wonderboy is a tough fight and its hard to fight someone like that, but Rory didn't look like a guy trying to score the biggest contract of his life.

Is is possible that there were contractual/other distractions? If he and the UFC were so far off in negotiations, could this have affected his motivation and mental prep? This wasn't the murderous Rory that we all know and love.

I don't know - just throwing it out there.

edit - full credit to Wonderboy - I'm not trying to discredit him in any way. He fought brilliantly and Rory was clearly wary of his speed and power.

Neither did Hendricks or Whittaker. Wonderboy's just too fast and tricky, and he'd KO most of the other welterweights.

Rory has always been prone to mediocre fights. Remember Woodley and Penn? Even the first Lawler fight was meh.

Rory was getting tagged every time he tried to engage more. He did what he could imo.

In other words...........THE FIX IS IN!

He just came off a devastating loss against Robbie. Taking this fight was a terrible career move at this point.

Rory MacDonald battered BJ Penn into a standing fetal position. How was that mediocre?

I completely forgot about his contract... damn Rory.

Wonderboy has been wheel kicking all his peers to death. He will most likely resume wheel kicking people in his next few fights, and everyone will remember how technical and talented Rory is.

I'm really starting to get sick of this crap! This is becoming an annoying trend after EVERY fight Rory loses! His sycophants will then rush the forums and make outrageous claims about how even though he lost he was "the better fighter". Hell, they don't even stop there at proclaiming he's somehow the better fighter than the guy who just beat his ass. They will make an even greater claim, "He's clearly the best in the division" and his losses are excused because his head just wasn't in the game or he had an off night. It's bullshit....I'm listening to BDATB and even TJ's dumbass is talking about how Rory would've won if he wasn't "out of his prime". I like Rory but this crap NEEDS to stop! He lost the fight because the fighter he fought was better PERIOD!

firas has rorys balls in a jar, in his desk back at tristar.

there is a peice of duct tape on the jar, and its labeled "rorys aggression".

that's rory like he has always have been. boring

Much respect to Rory, he is something great for the sport but this is how I actually feel as well.

Yeah, and then refused to finish a past his prime featherweight. Rory showed no killer instinct in that fight.

Agreed. Fought way to conservatively and looked bad. Would have rather seen him in an exciting fight where he ended up KO'ed than that snoozefest we had to sit through.

I don't totally blame Rory for making it boring...but dang...he sure was responsible for about 65% of it.

Some of You fuckin idiots make me want to delete my account.

Rory is highly skilled, and looked sharp, but he fought a fighter with so many loop holes, Wonderboy fought smart.

I really do think Rory is more skilled, but Wonderboy just has his ways.
