a lot of people are writing him off cause of how he looked against Wonderboy. Mind you, Wonderboy is on the highest swing of his career while Rory has been inactive after a fight he got brutalized in

- Rory hasn't fought in basically a year
- Rory lost his last fight pretty brutally
- He came back against WB of all people
- Just had a kid (No excuse for losing the fight)
- Stephen Wonderboy is on a fucking tear with a KO over Big Rigg in R1

Rory shouldn't have jumped back in that quick against the most dangerous guy in the division. He should have gotten 2-3 tune up fights against respected competition such as Magny, Ellenberger, Gastelum, or Brown. All fights that he would likely win and build his confidence back up so that he can come into a title fight without a long lay off or have fought WB with some fights under his belt

You can't fight someone as good as WB after a long layoff, you need some fights under your belt so that you get a sense of the octagon again

Agreed and he really didnt look that bad it was close till the last round or two.

you listed wonderboy twice. and mention his kid while saying it dosnt matter.

you should have 2 less '-'. i no hespct this thread

Rory will be alright
His time will come, just not yet

We've already seen the best Rory. I don't think he'll ever be a champion and that's unfortunate because I thought he was going to be the next GSP.

Tough opponent to come back to . Wonderboy peaking into his best form at 33 and could very well be the next champion. Rory at 26 should be fine , although what sucks is that he left this fight with what looks like another Broken Nose , so that might be a constant worry for him in future fights.

And lost by 2 rds in a stand up kickboxing fight against a 57-0 phenom,

Idiots writing him off.

The UFC used him as a gatekeeper in this case. It was a really tough match up after coming from that war.

Cruz came back after years of inactivity and beat the reigning champ. Well, edged out anyway.

Ring rust doesn't exist Luke Thomas you donk.

Also, UFC is no chill, you don't get a tune-up fight unless you get lucky and your original opponent pulls out like Khabib did. It's nothing new and certainly no excuse.

People are not writing him off as a fighter, we're writing him off as the next GSP. He'll never be anything like GSP.

This!

People forget Rory still has plenty of years left. He hasn't hit his prime yet.

The nose is a concern but if he has surgery and takes some time off he will be back. I guarantee he will win the title before he retires. He's too good not to be the champ.

Just bc Cruz did it doesn't mean every fighter is like Cruz. I also believe ring rust is real, no matter what Cruz says. Its silly imo that he tries to claim it's not.

Jeez its been a year already since that amazing title fight ...man i didnt even realize that i was thinking man hes coming back pretty quick thinking its been like 5 or 6 months . Bur my first son was born in august so time has been flying since

I hope he stays in the UFC I don't like his chances against koreshkov and that fight could ruin his career...

Not relevant really..the layoff was no excuse, the problem is Rory was hyped and compared to GSP, he is just an average fighter with a technical (cautious) style that has not really worked for well for him. Mentally I don't think he has what it takes, and going forward that nose of his will always be a target..

He hit wb clean a couple of times. Wb just ate them so give credit to wb's chin and recovery. Anybody else condit, brown etc would have been lights out.

Wonderboy was always going to be champ doesn't matter who was put in front of him, unfortunatly it was Rory.

If Cruz did it everyone else can if you can't you're not mentally strong like Cruz says.
