It's a long shot, I just hope she doesn't fight scared. Would be great to see it go 4-5 rounds
 
It's really obvious that Rousey will win like always, I am still pulling for Holm though. Holm has decent footwork and a good jab, doubt that will be enough but you never know.

The UFC has upped their promotional game considerably over the past year or so, particularly for their sport's biggest stars like Ronda Rousey. They don't do it for every event -- they're still running with "Short vs. Tall" to promote Cormier vs. Gustafsson -- but their best efforts are clearly on display here.

With UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm just under two months away, Ellen DeGeneres tweeted to her 46,000,000 followers the first promo for the card.



This video (which you can also see at the top of the page) presents a re-enacted timeline of Rousey dating back to when she was 11 years old. It includes how she first became interested in judo, her mother displaying her own armbar skills, getting in trouble at school after submitting a boy, winning her Olympic bronze medal, seeing the UFC on TV for the first time, and then lastly training for her November 14th showdown with Holly Holm in Melbourne, Australia's Etihad Stadium. Holm then appears opposite Rousey inside the Octagon, with referee Herb Dean (note: pretty sure that's not Herb Dean) signifying the beginning of the contest.

It's only a 1:45 clip, so at some point you definitely need to watch this.

I think holm will give a Better fight than most people think. I believe she will win a round and will be subbed in the 4th but she will actually present herself as a huge rematch for Ronda in 4-6 months
 
I won't even bother watching this fight. I will just catch the gif.

I wonder if Rogan will propose to Ronda and then break down in tears during the post-fight interview.
 
What if Holly did win? I voted for her in the polls. It's crazy when you think about it. I bet the media will call it the biggest upset in the history of the sport. With Ronda's popularity and all.
 
This could be fight of the year! I'm beyond pumped for this one. Everyone ready for a barn burner? This will be a war of attrition due to these fighters being so closely matched in skill sets, cardio, and physical gifts.
 
I don't know why everyone thinks Ronda gets immediate submission if the fight goes to the ground. Even though WMMA is in its infancy think about Cro Cop. He came to MMA in its relatively early stage as a striker with zero background in grappling and it took a BJJ master Nogueira to submit him who only has his chin to thank that he survived long enough to pull off that submission. Cro Cop defeated a lot of grapplers.

If Ronda takes Holm to the ground she could just pull guard and stall. I'm no expert on grappling so feel free to correct me but as far as I remember other Ronda's fights she got her submissions after some wild scrambling after her judo throws. I'm sure that Holm is well prepared for defensive grappling and she's training in the best possible MMA gym. If judo-style ground fighting was so effective and lead to quick submissions in MMA we'd see the likes of Satoshi Ishii absolutely dominating but this is not the case.

Holm could use the McGregor's approach vs Mendes and just pull guard and wait, throw some elbows and be patient. She had a lot of time to prepare for that.
 
Holm is not getting any better or younger. Shell never have what it takes to beat ronda so you might as well throw her in there now.
 
I want Holly to win, but lets face it, a bottom feeder in a week division isn't going to beat her.

Holm (Creed) will be elusive for a little while and Rousey (Drago) will struggle to hit her, but once she gets hold of her, it'll be the beginning of the end for Holm. Ground 'n' pound or clinch + throw + armbar will end it at around the 4-minute mark of the first round.
 
Holly Holm has long, lean, thick cut biceps. They look like grade A steaks. I think that will help her neutralize the grappling from Ronda Rousey.

The difference between Ronda and Ishii is two things.

First, Ronda us a ground specialist whilst Ishii is not. Submissions are relatively rare in judo competition yet Ronda hit a disproportionate amount of them.

Second, Ronda has trained for a long time to implement her judo into a no-gi environment. World class judoka rarely transfer over well because their game relies on grabbing sleeves, belts, and collars. Ronda has been training no go judo for a long time.



I'd also add that Holm will have a hard time stalling with Ronda in her guard. Ronda is a brutally effective guard passer and Holm is a low level grappler.

Dumb poll. The question shouldn't be who will win, the question should be whether or not Ronda will win within 30 seconds.

Sounds about right. Holm will have no problem dancing longer than all 3 of Rousey's previous opponents combined.
