Let's be honest, UFC made her and is the only reason for her popularity.

If UFC never brought in WMMA and she just KO'd Bethe in Invicta nobody would care.

I guess so for the most part, but what's your point?

Wrong.............

So UFC made Gina Carano the huge star she is today then???

and Ronda was doing well enough in SF, the UFC just help propel her to the next level

she's made herself a Movie star and the UFC's MVP

bye Ronda Hater

That's just not true, Strikeforce gave WMMA a chance and Ronda Rousey took that chance and headlined two very succesful events.

The UFC brought it in for the sole purpose of not losing Ronda Rousey to a Zuffa competitor. They didn't even want women's divisions.

If Conor stayed in Cage of Truth
If GSP stayed in UCC

If
If

If Ronda isn't a star, and if you guys hate her so much, why do you start threads and post so much about her?

Ronda is a product of Ronda, but she needed the UFC as a platform. Rousey was gaining steam and being talked about all throughout Sherdog well before the UFC added a women's division. She would never get the casual appeal she has fighting in Invicta or Strikeforce, but Rihanna never would have become anything singing in local bars her whole life, either. Rousey needed a platform big enough to support her growth and the UFC fit well. The end.

Wrong.

UFC brought in WMMA because there was a demand.

Ronda was a big name before the UFC.

Ronda is popular because she is a great fighter, totally dominates her competition, and is a very attractive girl.

Rhonda blew up in strike force before ufc even had a women's division

Actually she pretty much easily outdrew Fedor's, Giblerts, Gina's etc at Strikeforce so she had a pretty nice base before that. And lets not act stupid and think that Dana would have even noticed wmma really without Ronda.

Gina is a nobody outside of hardcore MMA fans, she was in fast and furious and nobody knew who she was. What national products is Gina endorsing like legit stars? Nada, why do you think she is looking to get back into MMA?

And thats why media outlets posted so much stuff about her last year.. Nevermind the crying female fans at press confrences.
One could actually argue that Kimbo was nothing without Gina during elite xc days.

wow talked about on Sherdog? Sounds like a massive star in the making.

Thanks for leaving out the part where I said her casual appeal would be limited in Strikeforce. The point about Ronda receiving a lot of attention on places like Sherdog was to illustrate that she was well-discussed in circles that would be talking about events like Strikeforce. She quite clearly had the potential to be the star, which is why it's no surprise she is today.

what does crying female fans have to do with anything? hardcore fans are hardcore fans, has nothing to do with being a major star athlete which Ronda never would be without UFC allowing her to compete under their banner

you are only proving my point. Casual appeal would be massively limited and she would never be a major star. UFC made her the star that she is.

Just like the long line of female champions who came before her in the UFC...

I am impressed that different groups believe the UFC makes no stars and others believe all stars are just ufc marketing.
