The long promoted cyborg vs Ronda fight would have even more hype around it

Champion vs champion, that's always exciting

Why can't cyborg be a UFC 145 lb WMMA champion ?

Why UFC has not made already the third WMMA division with cyborg has champion ?? I can see cyborg selling some PPVs too

Edit: for the users who says you can't make a division around one fighter alone, just look at Ronda division. And joanna division, that division was made around no fighter, joanna came after.

Because there's Cyborg then like 5 other chicks at 145.

Being a warm body alone gets you ranked at 145, on the bright side tho we'd see the return of Peggy Morgan

So 6 chicks only are relevant? How about WBW and WSW? Probably the same.

It's really not hard and it's been mentioned hundreds of times. 145 is a wasteland. There's probably not even 10 women at 145 how compete at that weight class on a regular basis. It is in fact the cyborg division and will probably fold when she retires. A 125 class is more realistic and will probably happen down the road

You can't build a new WMMA division off of one fighter and some warm bodies. Marloes could make 135.

Do yourself a favor and look at the 145 rankings. That will answer your question.

WSW has wayyy more depth than 145.

The majority of in shape women are going to be able to make 135 or less. People really need to realize that. 145 was popular early on for 2 reasons, Cyborg and Gina. At the time, they were definitely the draw.

They'd get the same results much quicker if they just flushed money down a toilet.

With Paige Van Zant (#7 contender) and Carla Esparza (2nd contender)... shit must be real deep.

I don't get it, in Ronda division there was just Ronda and Miesha, then Zingano emerged

Do you really say you can't build a division around 1 fighter ? Just look at joanna and Ronda, they are the definition of division build around one fighter

That sounds like the two UFC wmma divisions right now, and was not a problem

If you make the division in UFC, you give those women reasons to chose the fighter life, first give them the space, then they will grow up

Build a 145 division around a fighter that if I'm not mistaken was on roids at 145. Why would you do that?

Too thin. Cyborg is easy to sell because she looks mean and she beats up everyone she faces, but introducing a division that lacks quality opponents is a tough sell. All of WMMA is incredibly thin but 145 is the worst which is logical as well trained women do not weigh that much.

Pretty much. When Cyborg's the only one unable/unwilling to make 135, what would the point be in the division?

They'd be less fighters at 135 if the UFC introduced a 125 division for the ladies

The same reason they don't have mens super heavyweight, because the 135'ers would demolish the 145s 90% of the time anyway (except for maybe 1 girl who would probably still get smashed by Ronda but would beat a lot of 135ers but won't cut the juice weight she put on.)

Cyborg is not a weight class.

145 is empty, a ghost town, illegitimate. But, sure, let's throw it in there to get a convicted roid cheat who people say already has no competition.

Cris is 5' 8" and carries a good amount of muscle and makes 145 lb. The other women competing against her are relatively soft and could make 135 without much effort. It would not be wise for the UFC to build a division around an aging fighter that is far from the norm. That division exists in Invicta because she was a draw when it was acquired, and the talent pool was much shallower. Fast forward a few years and their are very few female fighters emerging in that weight division. People may not like it, but 145 is not a viable division to start in a major promotion now. I enjoy watching Cyborg fight, but it needs to make business sense. Can you imagine the abuse that 145 would take in the UFC with as much as the talent pool is flamed at 135?
