Does Roger Gracie have to step and defend the Gracie family honor and fight Barnett at metamoris. Everyone knows Roger is the best gracie a bjj match at meta with Barnett would be sick. who do guys think win? i think its either going to be a draw or roger gets the sub. dont really see Barnett subbing Roger

I doubt Roger cares. He's never been too big on the whole "carrying the Gracie name" thing, and I don't think he's ever had anything to do with Ryron. Plus, everyone knew Josh was going to beat Ryron. His win over Lister was far more impressive.

With Roger focusing full time on MMA, I do not foresee this happening. If it did, draw in no gi, Roger wins in gi.

Wait, not subbed in SPARRING since BLUE? So he was a high high level black belt when he was a blue belt? That makes no sense. In competition, sure. But where you getting this info about sparring?

I would say if he comes in at 185 or whatever Barnett could definitely sub him no gi. But the Roger that was subbing everyone open weigt at ADCC, or fought Rone Waterman, beats Barnett without too much trouble.

I doubt Roger wins even in a gi. But in no gi, his best case scenario is a draw and surviving Barnett's grinding, painful catch game. Kennedy was comfortable going to the ground with Roger...Barnett would have absolutely no problem, especially with the weight difference.

Good grief, I am in no way comparing Ron Waterman to Barnett. My point is that for that fight, Roger did not cut weight. He fought at his natural weight. That being said, he handled Waterman easily, but Barnett is 10 times the grappler.

As far as Kennedy-- that was an MMA match. It's a different animal than grappling.

there is no way in hell barnett submits roger. in no gi, i could see it going to a draw, since roger isn't that active with his grappling anymore. back in the day, when he wasn't doing MMA, i'd pick him to sub barnett, though.

in the gi, roger chokes barnett out, even today.

What Roger did in ADCC has never been done. He was the best pure grappler the world. yeah its been a long time, but is not like bartnett is younger or anything. Roger has been doing mma, so his no gi game probably hasnt suffered as much as his Gi Game. Roger is not a small boy either. He fights at 185, now going back to 205, but he walks around 220, Barnett while being bigger, is not that that much bigger, hes probably stronger though.

Metamoris rules I could see a Draw or Roger by sub, and to the dude comparing his mma fight with keneddy, kennedy is a beast, and it was an mma fight, in which roger owned kennedys ass in the first round took his back for along time, if it was no gi, there wasnt going to be mma gloves in the middle of getting a RNC...

Roger is not ryron or dean lister, Barnett is one hell of a grappler, but submitting ryron and lister is not enough to be calling the best grappler in the world, not even close.

I think Ralek has something special in here, from the MKt point of view, its a great move to bring Roger in... The fight will sell a lot! much more than a cyborg fight... Buchecha could be the other one, but this Catch vs Bjj stuff is working incredible well for him.
