When was the last time we had two peaking fighters in a title fight and both of them were in their absolute prime? Is this the most alpha title fight in the history of the UFC?

Who is Rockhold for him to have a "prime" lol. The guys career is based off a win over Bisping and Machidas remains.

Weidman is going to outclass this guy from bell to bell.

Now as far as your question goes, Machida vs Rashad is probably the best example of a Prime vs Prime fight.

First one that came to mind for me as well.

This fight has been on my radar for awhile now, IMO they are the two best MWs in the world followed by Jacare and Romero. I think Weidman will win but I doubt it will be easy for him, Luke is a beast.

To be fair he beat Jacare and Tim Kennedy not that long ago. 4-1 vs 5 guys in the current top 8.

I mean, I'm favouring Weidman (I've favoured Weidman in every single fight in his career), but are you saying that the same fighter that Weidman beat, but definitely struggled with (Machida), less than a year before Rockhold annihilated him on the ground, was a completely different fighter? I don't think that's quite the case. I think Rockhold is fucking good and that he poses some considerable problems to Weidman.

Let this sink in. Its a reminder of just how other wordly amazing Shogun was

Shogun despite having already suffered 2 knee injuries was the FIRST one to beat Machida - and he beat Machida when Machida was at his utmost hottest of prime....right after Machida's destruction of prime Rashad.....

Prime healthy Rashad couldnt even touch prime Machida

Shogun with 2 knee surgeries significantly out struck PRIME "Machida era Machida" in every catagory of striking

Healthy Shogun performing at his best is THE GOAT in combat sports

Tim Kennedy is a gatekeeper and the Jacare fight was a toss up decision from nearly half a decade ago when Jac couldn't even throw a straight punch.

He had his chance to prove himself against Vitor and got exposed, when the UFC tried to set up his coming out party.

I just cant repect a guy who picks and chooses his opponents en route to a TS... calling out a 40 year old Bisping was pointless and the same applied for his campaigning for Machida only after Weidman put him through the meat grinder.

I think the UFC is trying to sell us fools gold with the way theyre pushing Rockhold, guys a good fighter but nothing out of the ordinary.

And Weidmans career is based off of Fluke wins like Anderson Silva fucking around in the Octagon and then breaking his own leg. What the fuck did Weidman do? He didn't break Silva's leg. Then he goes 5 rounds with Machida when Rockhold dismantled him in 2 rounds? What's so good about Weidman again? His best win is Mark Munoz? Ok guy.

Fedor and CC were both in their primes and it showed.

This fight is going to be great. I think it's going to be very competitive. This will be Weidman's first defense against a new generational talent. No matter who wins, this fight signifies a complete paradigm shift of the mw division. Weidman has cleaned out all of the old guard basically. It's a very exciting time for this division and a time that I think is overdue for middle weight. Two high level talents at the top of their respective games akin to Lawler and Rory. I'm not even going to venture a prediction for this one I'm just going to enjoy the fireworks.

Styles make fights. Rashad could beat Shogun at that time.

it's a matter of perspective... you might say weidman is a fluke champion, cos you don't like him

those who are his fans may say, weidman is legit, having beaten andy twice, and also machida and belfort... all 3 are all-time greats..

    to-may-toe versus to-maa-toe, eh?

Well most champions and contenders are pretty "prime", but if you wanted to go for really strictly meaning age and momentum,

have people already forgot Cain vs. JDS 1?

    Undefeated Machida vs. Undefeated Evans?
    Champion GSP vs. Champion Penn?
    Jones vs. Gustafsson?
    Anderson vs. Franklin?
    Hughes vs. Penn
    Hughes vs. GSP
    GSP vs. Kosheck
    GSP vs. Condit
    GSP vs. Hendricks
    GSP vs. Fitch
    Lawler vs. McDonald
    Bendo vs. Edgar
    Bendo vs. Pettis
    Aldo vs. Mendes
    Aldo vs. Jung
    Cruz vs. Johnson
    Johnson vs. Dodson

And that's only like the past 10 years... no this is not the first time ts

I love how people sleep on luke I think its Weidman biggest test. Chris has fought old fighters since winning the belt. I got Chris winning but I think luke is the next best thing he would beat vitor now that he's off trt.

I'm just tired of seeing people say Chris is running through him or people love to shit on his wins cuz jacare better now or w/e. I hate the most when people talk about the vitor loss. I mean c'mon that vitor was head kicking everyone,I'm a fan off both and I can't wait for the card.

Aldo vs McGregor is an even more impressive example of this.
