Rock climbing

I used to be. My gf at the time got me into it. Great hobby. Gives you that skinny strength

Try looking for an indoor wall in your area and you can take a course there to learn the ins and outs. Or see I'd there is a climbing club you can join.

Fun, if sometimes frightening, hobby!

I do a lot of bouldering, I prefer it. All about explosive movements and much harder sequences imo. Really fun and climbers in general are usually really cool and laid back, so I recommend it as a hobby. Plus you get super strong and shredded. Nothing like working on a route for a couple sessions and then finally nail it!

I used to love it when I was 12-15 years old, then puberty kicked in and I went from 52-85 kg in about 3.5 years. My finger joints got all fucked up from crimping on tiny holds and it wasnt fun anymore.

Great first date material. Gets the pheremones and adrenaline pumping, there's trust involved, you gotta check each other's knots which breaks down the physical distance barrier...

Everyone wants to bang after a climb.

It's pretty cool. I did it indoors for a while. I don't like heights but somewhat got used to it.
I just asked a mate to go who had been before.
Remember to push with your legs rather than your arms or you'll burn your biceps out.

i used to go indoor bouldering every now and then. might try starting up again. it's hard when you're short and have no range of motion with your hips/legs.

I've been watching a lot of video's about Alex Honnold lately. Amazing shit, king of free climbing.

Used to do tons of rock and ice climbing. Moved more towards mountaineering over the years.

I still go rock climb a bit when I go back to my home town, lots of long moderate multi pitch routes which are really fun because they take all day and really get you up there but the routs are all like 5.6-5.8 so you don't need to be an amazing climber, just need good knowledge of gear (cams) anchors, belaying (especially when you can't even see or hear your partner).

Lots of fun.

I've bouldered indoors and out for a number of years.
If you have the time available climb outside. Nothing beats that feeling.

Indoor climbing is great way to exercise. I can throw down a two hour work out and enjoy it the whole way through. Your mind is engaged unlike in weightlifting.

If it ever comes a time where a rock doesn't know its place, and dares to stand high in front of me instead of fucking kneeling... I will fucking break it with one of my mean hooks, then I'll search the area for any little rocks laying around and throw them into the nearest lake so they fucking drown.

All of these things, especially the bolded things ^^^

I did it for a few years and got De Quervain's Tenosynovitis in both my thumbs. I would get shooting nerve pain any time I gripped something, even as light as a stapler. I was smoking weed and climbing 4 times a week. I had arms like a gorilla.

I decided to quit rather than do lifelong damage.

Most indoor gyms will have intro movement classes, which are super helpful and a good way to learn not just technique, but proper climbing etiquette and how not to act a fool in the gym. A lot of new guys think climbing is all about jumping from hold to hold or doing a bunch of pullups up a wall, but proper technique is more about balance, standing up on your legs, and hip tension and rotation.

Used to when I was younger. Then I started battling drugs and alcohol.

I never actually did drugs or alcohol, I just battled them.

Alcohol's takedown defense is not to be fucked with.

I found a group through meetup.com and did indoor climbing for a year and half but my joints (wrist, elbows, shoulders) were getting so sore I had to take anti inflammatory drugs just to keep going... I think I pushed myself pretty good without learning proper techniques.... so learn technique if you can, take a course if you have to.
