And he should be the richest fighter in the league. It pisses me off that he's not. We celebrate all of thee other fighters, but no one has faced the amount of competition, or had the winning streak of championship fights in the past 3 years that Robbie has.

He hasn't gotten one easy fight since coming back to the UFC never less since becoming champion. He's been in war after war, and every one of them has been incredibly entertaining, and I will never hesitate to spend 60 bucks on one of his fights. He deserves more from the UFC. My rant's over.

Because fans of our sport prefer hype to substance.

But Robbie is a weird case because he SHOULD be easy to build hype around given that he's been in so many exciting fights recently.

Then again, there are enough idiots out there that would rather believe what they're told than to trust what they see with their own eyes.

That's how we get stuck with pretty faces, shit talkers, and hypetrains as the stars of MMA.

As much as us hardcores love the just-bleed warriors and primarily the fights themselves, personality DOES play a big role.

The dudes who have a combination of just bleed, but also talk shit and have an air of flamboyance to them usually tend to become the superstars and biggest draws.

Fighters are not promoters. It's the promoter's job to make them into draws. Just like they did for Jon Jones. Just like they did for boring personality, and boring fighter, GSP. Conor is the rare exception who promoted himself, but that didn't stop UFC from dumping loads of money into promoting him as well.

He also doesnt really care about it. I dont think he wants to be a star. Its not like hes out there giving alot of interviews and going on talk shows. He just doesnt want any of that.

The thing is tho,is Conor knows how to do business. Lawler aint that kinda guy,you just tell him what day is the fight and he'll be there...like Nick diaz

He is not a dominant fighter like GSP Anderson or Fedor he goes out there and gives everything he has, thats why he is not a superstar but a warrior

    This. ^^

Robbie is more of a country-road, calm-waters type; he's happy to walk in the driveway with sandals and have the wife and kids about. He's a real man and that's not very "cool" nowadays.

That's the problem though, they put so much into promoting Conor and Ronda they didn't think they needed to promote anyone else, then UFC 200 comes around and Conor won't do any media and there's been less sightings of Ronda than Bigfoot.

If they promoted all of their champs they wouldn't have this problem.

    The UFC is obviously.

They push hype trains...due to greed...

...while the fighter pay and exposure for everyone in general is shit.

    Ironically...

    Ronda lost.
    Conor lost.
    Sage lost.
    Jones lost.
    Lesnar lost.
    The UFC was sold.
    Etc, etc, etc.

Put Conor's current brain in Lawler's current body, and he'd be richer than Mayweather in 3 years.

Not every fighter can be a star. I love Stipe and if he keeps knocking dudes dead more people are going to like him,but hes never going to be a guy on the level of Conor and Ronda.Conor was allready a star, the world just didnt know it yet. Can the ufc do better,certainly...but they cant elevate everyone to that level, some of them arent willing to go through that...and as we have seen it starts to actually interfere with their training.
