Did you see this guy at the press conference? It's like he doesn't give a f*** about the belt he's just there because he enjoys fighting. I've never seen a champ seem completely unaffected by losing his belt. He seemed almost happy for his teammate while saying he would enjoy a rematch. "That's how you fight championship fights!", and that's also how you lose championship fights. War Robbie Lawler, most violent and most humble Champion in UFC history.
I'd actually like to see more of these 'supposed' fight fans stop throwing shade and congratulate the guy that actually dethroned Lawler.
It's a great thing to see, but it's also frustrating at the same time because you want to see that hunger, the want for that belt back. etc etc... I get it though.
He really has been, his story is fantastic. From the early days of MMA with Miletich, failing out of the UFC, being a top 5 guy at MW in Strikeforce, moving up and down from WW to MW and not finding a title in Strikeforce, then after he gets back to the UFC the guy just rises up and takes that belt, defends it in two epic contests and like you said, remained humble the whole time. In winning and now in defeat Robbie Lawler is a class act.
would be happy to see how wood handles the brutality of keeping the belt. as it is, he doesn't seem interested in legitimately defending it as much as he is in milking it for every dollar it is worth. kind of ambivalent in hearing champs call for money fights instead of championship fights..
I think he cares a lot about the belt and about losing. It's just that he doesn't show emotions as much as other people. I like his style, he seems focused and doesn't need to insult anyone or to be Rockhold
Unlike you, I'm a real fight fan. Not a sorry ass bandwagon fan that pretends to like whoever is doing good at the moment.
