Freddie Roach, trainer of WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, wants his boxer to clean out the junior welterweight division, and then move up to welterweight to face Floyd Mayweather Jr.

During the last few weeks, there has been a lot of discussion regarding a possible fight between Khan and Mayweather in 2012. On Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Khan is facing IBF champion Zab Judah. If Khan defeats Judah, then Roach wants to target a fight with WBC/WBO champion Timothy Bradley.

"We still have one more guy that we want to fight in the 140-pound division, Bradley. I'd rather clean this division out, unify the titles and then move up," Roach told BoxingScene.com.

Bradley was the original target for this Saturday's event. After weeks of negotiations, Bradley rejected a lucrative deal to face Khan. Based on the recent turn of events, Bradley could be facing an extended stay on the sidelines. The boxer is involved in a legal battle with his co-promoters Gary Shaw and Ken Thompson.

"Mayweathers, Bradleys.....why do they talk so much but they don't sign any contracts? It's amazing to me. We need the best to fight the best and I think I would love to see that [fight]. Hopefully it happens," Roach said.

The Bradley fight might take a while.

No it might take a LONG while. Bradley may not fight again until the second half of 2012 at the earliest. He's really made some stupid decisions.

Mainly because he's being sued by his (former?) promoter. He should've just taken the damn Khan fight (which came with a LARGE pay day) and then moved on to a different promoter after that fight. Now he's going to end up sitting on the sidelines for a year and half while this all gets sorted out.

I've seen khan fight once. He's got skills! Now with this article with roach saying I want to see khan fight again.

Honestly I'm much more excited to watch Khan-Judah anyway. Bradley's fights just don't do anything for me.

It might have to be Alexander, then Bradley, then Mayweather.

hypothetically, if khan beats bradley and floyd (hypothetically), does Roach train manny or amir (or both) if they fight?

Khan has stated he will never fight Pacquiao. Of course if he actually ran through all of those foes unbeaten that could change as the money on the table would be ridiculous.

Might want to go to the Doctor, you may not have a pulse.

I take it you find head butting and shoe shining particularly exhilarating?

bradley and mayweather both beat him, so I hope either one happens asap

Bradley sucks for trying to take the shortcut instead of cleaning out his own division first.. Pac will not give him the time of day.

I still think Khan has unfinished buisness with Marcos Maidana. I think Maidana won that fight. They should have a re-match.
