The president was impeached for apparently accepting a $650,000 bribe a few years ago when he was a governor. They have an interim president to do the job till next summer.

For being accused of accepting a bribe. The thing that has pissed off people the most, the reason so many people are calling it a coup, is that there hasn't even been time to investigate the allegation.

Then there's the fact that the article of the Constitution they used lets Congress remove the President for "permanent moral incapacity" which can mean anything and there's a lawsuit pending on the Constitutional Court asking them to define it.
