I recently bought a pair of 18 oz. Ringside IMF Tech Training gloves with the elastic cuff. I have only owned a pair of cheap everlast sparring gloves and I wanted an upgrade. I heard good things about them from different forums and reviews. When I first put them on I realized I would have trouble pulling down the elastic cuff on the second glove I put on. I could not figure out a way to pull the cuff down with out using my teeth. The second problem I encountered was when I had my wraps on it was quite difficult to put the gloves on. When I did manage to cram my hands into the gloves they were cramped and it was quite painful actually. After I pulled my hands out of the gloves they actually felt sore.

I'm not knocking Ringside or the gloves, but did I get a defective pair? Or are my hands just too big to fit the gloves comfortably with wraps?

I got RingToCage's MiMs (turned out to be an EXACT CLONE of the Ringsides I already had) and had this problem. I just couldn't get my left hand (unwrapped, even!) in the thing to save my life.

I felt stupid when I figured out what was going on (actually recalled something I previously read-- a customer review/comment-tip:icon_idea that explained it):

You just flip "up" the elastic (you know, like the ladyskirt you feel you're wearing when you can't get a glove on your damn hand) towards the top/finger portion of the glove and UNDO the VELCRO LATCH, and then re-adjust it so it opens bigger (to the width you like) and then flip the elastic skirt back down.

You see, under the elastic there is just a covering which obscures the same regular velcro hook n loop anatomy that you are probably familiar with from any other non-lace glove...

Oh my derp it felt good; I was glad no one was watching :icon_lol:.

Never owned the velcro version. Get the Ringside IMF Tech lace ups, they're the shit. Everybody that owns these confirmed they're among the most comfortable gloves out there.

BTW What's your hand circumference? What type of wraps do you use? I'm sure those 2 things will explain everything.

I've been wearing Ringside classic wraps, not mexican style, so they're not that stretchable. I don't have a tape-measurer handy right now so I can't tell you the circumference of my hands.

Thanks for the advice, but right now I'm leaning towards returning them and trying a different set of gloves. Everyone on all the forums I look at rave about these gloves, but maybe they're just not right for me. I mean they can't be perfect for everyone can they? Haha I'm looking into Title gloves as a replacement, what do you guys think of those? good idea? Bad idea?
