Imagine if the penalty for using PEDs was castration. Would anybody argue that we will end up with hundreds of eunuchs in the UFC? No. Because only the most idiotic or insane fighter would risk using under these circumstances.
Obviously castration will never be the penalty. But what needs to happen are consequences that will make fighters decide that potentially losing while clean is a much better option than taking PEDs in the hopes it will aid in winning. We still don't know where that threshold is. A pocket change fine plus a year suspension obviously was not it. Maybe a two year ban is enough. Once that threshold is established, very few fighters will pop much less 90%.
Performance is going to suffer.
Performance is all relative. There will always be the best fighter in a weight class. There will always be top 15 ranked fighters. Two debuting guys on the Fight Pass prelims can put on the FOTN. There are fights from 2006 that blow most 2016 fights out of the water.
It's ridiculous to suggest that every fighter will turn into a Artem Lobov
Your favorite fighter was never truly great. They might have even been a can without PEDs.
This is not an argument but an unspoken fear that triggers anti-USADA sentiment.
You really think Hendo, Vitor, etc., would have had the same exact win-loss record if they were always clean? C'mon son! Would it have been better? LOL!
Imagine the kayfabe world of pro wrestling where the bad guy hits his opponent with a weapon that then ref did not see. The bad guy won but was he truly the better wrestler? He cheated! No one knows a fighter is on PEDs before a fight. Not they're opponent, the ref, the commission, the promoter. But he cheated just the same.
Your fave is a fraud. A poser. A fake fighter. It's hard to accept but don't blame USADA for exposing the truth.
