is the question we should be asking why MMA fighters only get 15% of revenue or why should NFL players get over 50% of the revenue?

People are generally happier when they can't see the suits who getting filthy rich off our filthy consumerism.

"Paid millions to kick a football!? Ridiculous !" is a statement you will hear often though.

NFL players generate the money so they should get half of the revenue. People don't pay to watch the owners play. If your team is garbage then the teams make less money. If you have stars and a great team then you make more.

Athletes aren't overpaid simply because thats their market value. Sports are so popular that they generate so much money, and thats what determines how much these guys get paid. If people stopped caring/watching they will make a lot loss money because there will be less money in the sport.

    50% seems fair.

Something is worth whatever people are prepared to pay for it.

Neither. Both are paid precisely what they are worth.

Both, but if we look at athletes as overpaid, then who should be getting all the money that they generate, the leagues, promoters...?

The right answer is that the sports are over prices to the fans.

I But it's better they get the money than some suit who is just making millions(or billions) of other people's endeavors.

This is not a good response to his comment. The current market for live sports exists because there is a massive demand for it from the general public.

Athletes can't be overpaid. If that was the case, the NFL, NBA etc would ave gone down quicker than Affliction. The money is there in abundance and the pay just get's bigger and bigger.
