Checked it out mainly for the Herb Dean appearance.

Not much to really judge there but nice to see Rico get a full mount and finish.

Bugotski isn"t a can just because he lost to Catinas by KO.

lot of pressure on rico there; coming in as Glory heavyweight champion you can imagine the outcry if he lost.

he trains tons of wrestling whenever he goes to the states and you could see that in the way he was able to transition from one outside trip attempt to one on the other side when the opponent shifted his bodyweight

i think he can do pretty well in mma and i think it would be good for the sport of kickboxing to have him do that; the Ubereem era did similar

The problem is going to be finding an organization he can fight for in mma that is big enough for him and kb to get exposure. He is basically stuck praying the new japan org works out otherwise it will all be one off's against journeymen in eastern europe. He can't go to the ufc and i doubt bellator would sign him now without him also signing a hybrid mma & kb deal like schilling.

i meant that the Ubereem era brought more eyeballs to kickboxing from MMA fans (primarily north american) who would never previously have watched it. He had a Brock-esque crossover effect. Unfortunately by that point K1 goose was already cooked due to its shady financials

Couldn't believe my eyes, Rico looked really good fighting in the cage.
    Looking forward to other matches.

    Well played!

One thing I gotta say, Kickboxers need to abandon the double forearm gaurd for MMA. Too easy for shots to slip in. Gotta use headmovement and evasive footwork.

Rico doesn't have a granite chin and can get touched. All the striking skill in the world doesn't matter when you get clipped with a heavy hand.

That's my main critique of him here. He tried the Dutch ear muffs and they simply don't work with those gloves. That's probably the biggest adjustment that top level kickboxers need to make outside of grappling. They usually think, "well hell, I can strike, I'm a kickboxer!" The reality of the situation is vastly different, those little gloves change everything.

Yeah, but please watch the start, somebody else like Cătinaș would have knocked him out. I kinda start to love that Raul had chosen MMA. With those gloves he can KO a bull. Imagine in kickboxing Bugotski went down like a fly against him. Anyway, good luck to Rico!

He has to start putting some power in his strikes too, this isn't kickboxing where that dutch shell is going to protect him. Viktor was doing more damage with strikes than he was. If he's going to throw those bitch strikes, anyone with somewhat of a chin will have no problem eating those to dish out some of their own.

Rico would beat him in kickboxing, handily, I think we all know that.

I'm not sure how you are positing that Catinas would knock him out in MMA when we've yet to see Catinas in MMA yet. If both Rico and Catinas are wearing those gloves it'll be whichever one has more experience training MMA with a better team, which, if we are honest, is Rico.
