Ricky Hatton drugs shame | News Of The World

    11/09/2010

BOXING hero Ricky Hatton has sensationally been caught on film snorting the illegal drug cocaine.

In images that will rock the boxing world, the 31-year-old sporting legend is seen chopping out lines of white powder before hoovering them up his nose through a rolled-up

This is not surprising, Calzaghe came out recently and admitted as much didn't he? With that amount of money and all that time on their hands and the fact that it stays in your system for a pretty short timespan, it makes sense.

Leonard had a pretty big coke problem back in the day as well. Camacho was another.

Yeah, to be honest, I can see alot of boxers doing it in order to keep up with training etc. So I can see them carrying it on after they've retired, because it's just a part of their life.

Hatton's reputation will take a huge hit in Britain because his whole out-of-ring persona was based on being the normal bloke at the pub.

I don't know for a fact that they definately do, but I was watching a documentary on drugs within Pro-Wrestling, and Roddy Piper basically said "With all the stuff we have to do, you had to be on coke to keep going." Because they had to work the show, travel to the next city, work out, filming, working another match, then travel to the next town, work out, work another match.

So, when you're in training for 10 hours a day for a couple of months, I wouldn't be surprised if boxers snorted it to keep going, weren't Carter Williams and Melvin Guillard busted for coke during training/fights?

They didn't say why it was on tape, there's not article to speak of, merely a taste of tomorrow's paper. Chances are, a journalist working under cover filmed it without Hatton even noticing.

Or one of his hangers-on stitched him up.

Pretty sad. He seemed like he was alone, rocked 3 lines and was going back for more! And why the hell was he taping it? Doesn't really make sense.....

Usually how these things come about are,

Journalists have contacts in bars/night clubs. Loose lipped bar staff then say "Public Figure X is a regular here and they're always [insert nefarious act]"

Then they ask about any friends/acquaintances who are usually with them who fancy earning some money.

They then tap up the friend and offer them a few thousand for the story saying "We know they've been up to something!", most of the time, they tell the journalist to go fuck themselves. But, as with alot of public figures, they have hangers on who would do anything if it meant pocketing some money.

With Ricky now retired from boxing, his hangers-on don't have anything to lose, so they probably accepted to pay off and brought him some evidence.

    Don't care to be honest.

It's a drug that is quite exaggerated.

    Victimless crime IMO.
