    I agree with this, I pretty much play closed guard and butterfly but late have been adding X-guard in with some of my butterfy sweeps, sometimes I am worried that I will rely on this too much in no-gi situations.

    I think a lot of people rely on butterfly guard in nogi situations. It is the most commonly used open guard in nogi.....

    Yeah, seems to work ok... but i guess what he is saying is he wants a well rounded game for his students?
