Damn every time he gets a step up in competition something happens. I think Silva may take it now more than ever.

    lame.

I liked the Story vs. Silva matchup better

but this should still be good because Erick Silva makes every fight entertaining.

Why would rick story allow himself to get injured before the fight? Thats so unprofessional! I say we lynch him and do everything in our power to discredit him and any accomplishment he's ever had

Thats what we do around here right?

How many times has Story pulled out of scheduled fights/ I don't follow him closely, so I'm really not sure.

Of course, you are referring to Aldo's recent pullout of the McGregor fight. I must assume you are aware that he has pulled out of six UFC fights and has fought in the UFC seven times (having been scheduled thirteen separate times). Unless Story pulls out almost every other fight like Jose does, then this is apples and oranges.

To be fair, I would say he has defended his belt nine times; seven of which were in the UFC. He is easily one of the greatest MMA fighters of this generation and is on par with the guys usually considered to be candidates for GOAT.

But to the point of this thread, I think this is a smart move by Magny. His bad loss deflated his momentum a lot, but a win here or even just an exciting war could help him get back on track.

I'm a big Story and Silva fan, boy am I relieved the fight is off!

I got Silva by TKO strikes for sure in this one. I like Magny, but tough luck and turn around for him.

I still think Silva can be the champ. He wont reign for long, but he can beat anyone if things pan out for him. He has it all.

Or it could send him further into a downward spiral. I understand the desire to remove the bad taste of a loss from your soul, but sometimes rushing back into the cage on short notice against a dangerous opponent isn't a good idea. Losing to Maia isn't anything to be ashamed of. Silva is dangerous and not even top 15, so fighting him doesn't have much upside besides making the bosses happy for helping them out.

Sure. He could lose badly again. Almost everything in MMA is predicated on winning or at least looking very impressive in a loss. Neil is betting on himself and I think it is the right move in this case. I certainly hope so for his sake.

I think he trains with some of those guys at Grudge who like quick turnarounds and to get back in the cage win or lose, as evidenced by his busy fight schedule. While I applaud that kind of activity, I've seen it not go well for Cerrone, Machida, Mendes, etc. Felder is also looking to get back on the horse with a quick turnaround against a much easier opponent in worn Pearson.

Disappointing. I was really looking forward to Story/Silva. Magny lost quite a bit of steam his last go around too. It should be a good fight regardless.
